Growing up in Linlithgow, West Lothian, England, Irene Gresty and Janet Henderson shared a neighborhood. <\/p>\n

However, like many friendships, their relationship deteriorated over time.Irene got married, went abroad with her husband\u2014a naval officer\u2014and was sent to locations like Singapore.<\/p>\n

She returned back to be closer to her family for retirement, but she had been living extremely close to Janet for three years without realizing it. <\/p>\n

Irene, who is now 80 years old, claimed that her heart skipped a beat when she spotted her long-lost friend when the two crossed paths at an event hosted by the Bield senior residence.<\/p>\n

\u2018We recognized each other right away.\u2019\u2018As we sat down next to one another, she asked, \u2018Is that you, Irene?\u2019 and I simply chuckled and replied, \u2018Yes, Janet!\u2019<\/p>\n

The last time we saw each other was a very long time ago, so I’m glad she said something. She claimed that she was certain it was me.<\/p>\n

\u2019I can’t believe my good fortune that it occurred; I was thrilled to see her again.\u2019 We swapped numbers, so I’m really looking forward to our upcoming meeting because we have a lot of ground to cover.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u2018We sometimes have friends reconciling after not seeing each other for a long length of time, but I don’t think we have ever had anything like this before,\u2019 said Tracey Howatt, director of customer experience at Bield. <\/p>\n
