<\/p>\nWhen one twin was still in the womb, she sent out distress signals that led physicians to deliver the other twin early, which was crucial for the other child’s survival. <\/p>\n
At 31 weeks and 5 days into her pregnancy, preemie Poppy McBride’s heart rate started to wobble on the monitor, prompting physicians to deliver her and her twin, Winnie. <\/p>\n
Poppy, the smaller of the twins, weighed only 1lb 11oz, but she was in wonderful health, and her heart was unharmed.<\/p>\n

Despite the fact that Winnie, Poppy’s sister, weighed more than three times as much, doctors had never expressed any worry. <\/p>\n
She was born weighing 3 pounds 8 ounces, but with undeveloped lungs, and was immediately taken to the intensive care unit. <\/p>\n
Leah McBride, the mother, claims that she was informed by medical professionals that Poppy saved her sister’s life and that Winnie would not have survived if the twins had been delivered any later. <\/p>\n
Although she has already fully recovered, she still required surgery at the age of 14 days to remove a buildup of fluid on her brain. <\/p>\n
‘I think your small twin saved her sister’s life,’ our physicians informed us,’ said the Texas stay-at-home mother. <\/p>\n
Poppy was born healthy despite her heart rate being all over the place before they had to deliver.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old mother stated, “Even now, Poppy takes care of Winnie, even though she is still much smaller. <\/p>\n
Doctors described her as spunky, but also noted that she was not much bigger than an elf on the shelf. The twins are now in perfect health, the best of friends, and doing well. <\/p>\n
