He’s best known for his roles as Marty McFly in the Back to the Future films and Alex P. Keaton on Family Ties. <\/p>\n

No one realized then that his greatest strength would be his ability to accept death with dignity and humor. <\/p>\n

Michael J. Fox is an inspiration despite his struggles with death, injury, and Parkinson’s disease. <\/p>\n

Some people may see in him the greatest optimist, but I see in him the ultimate believer in the value of holding on to hope. <\/p>\n

When Michael J. Fox found out he had Parkinson’s disease in 1991, he realized his life would be drastically affected, if not cut short.<\/p>\n

Michael lost his mom and went through numerous hardships as he fought this cancer. A modern-day Job, nothing in his life would be free of conflict and disaster. <\/p>\n

He had tumor removal surgery on his spinal cord. His bones were broken again later on. As if it were nothing, Michael casually remarked, \u2018I broke my cheek, then my hand,<\/p>\n

then my shoulder, had a replacement shoulder put in and shattered my [right] arm, then I fractured my elbow.\u2019 I’ve reached the ripe old age of 61, and I’m starting to feel it. <\/p>\n

Possessing a Happy Heart Despite Adverse Circumstances. Who or what gave him the strength and optimism to persevere? His mom, a military spouse, gave it to him.<\/p>\n

He was impressed by her resilience, optimism, and ability to shrug off setbacks. What a priceless present she gave him, <\/p>\n

and what a powerful lesson for all of us about the transformative power of our own deeds and unconditional love for our children. <\/p>\n

Michael J. Fox has a glimmer of raw hope and a spring in his step as he leaves the last few tough years behind him. <\/p>\n

Michael J. Fox is thankful for the little things, like being on his feet, his wife, and the support of his friends and family while he battles Parkinson’s disease and his health. <\/p>\n

\u2018It’s been a challenge, but I’m glad,\u2019 he remarked. That’s what I try to convey, because deep down, I believe everyone deserves a chance at joy, no matter what they’re facing. <\/p>\n
