Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), which causes her muscles to stiffen up compulsively, has been identified as Celine Dion’s condition. <\/p>\n
Patients eventually become \u2018human statues\u2019 as the illness gradually locks their bodies into stiff positions, rendering them unable to move or speak. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
While there is no known treatment to stop the growth of SPS, Celine says she is doing everything in her power to minimize symptoms.<\/p>\n
In an emotional Instagram message on Thursday, the 54-year-old singer apologized to her followers and said she had to postpone her European tour due to it. <\/p>\n
\u2019Hello everyone, I apologize for taking so long to get in touch with you,\u2019 she wrote. I miss you all so much and am eager to meet you all in person on stage. <\/p>\n
As you are aware, I have always been honest, and while I wasn’t yet ready to say anything, I am now. <\/p>\n
It’s been incredibly difficult for me to face my struggles and to talk about everything that I’ve been through since I’ve been struggling with health issues for a very long time.<\/p>\n
I recently learned that I had the stiff person syndrome, a highly rare neurological condition that affects 1 in a million people. <\/p>\n

Although we are still studying about this uncommon ailment, we now know that this is the reason for all the spasms I have been experiencing. <\/p>\n
Celine went on to describe how the ailment has affected her, saying: ‘Unfortunately, these spasms influence every area of my daily life, <\/p>\n
sometimes making it difficult for me to walk and preventing me from using my vocal chords to sing the way I used to.’ <\/p>\n
I hate to break it to you now, but I won’t be prepared to resume my European tour in February because of this. <\/p>\n
My wonderful children are supporting me and helping me, and I have a great team of doctors working with me to get healthy. <\/p>\n
I have to say that it’s been difficult, but I work very hard with my sports medicine therapist every day to regain my strength and my ability to perform. <\/p>\n

When she postponed the North American dates of her Courage world tour from March 9 to April 22, Celine gave her first indication that she was having health problems. <\/p>\n

She was persuaded to return to Sin City in 2019 after ending her illustrious Caesars Palace engagement to perform at the brand-new Resorts World on the Strip. <\/p>\n
Celine recently underwent treatment for severe and chronic muscle spasms that are keeping her from performing, and her recuperation is taking longer than she had hoped. <\/p>\n
\u2018Her medical staff continues to assess and manage the issue,\u2019 it says.I was really expecting that I’d be good to go by now, <\/p>\n
but I guess I just have to be more patient and adhere to the routine that my doctors are recommending, said Celine. <\/p>\n
We have to make decisions now that will have an impact on the plans two months from now since our concerts require a lot of planning and preparation. <\/p>\n
I can’t wait to return to the stage when I’m fully recovered and when this pandemic is finally over for everyone. <\/p>\n
Meanwhile, I’ve been really moved by everyone’s supportive messages that I’ve received on social media. It means the world to me that I can sense your love and support.The accusation that Celine was “too thin” in 2019 caused anxiety among her supporters. <\/p>\n

After losing her spouse Rene Angelil at the age of 73 in 2016, the SPS diagnosis is the most recent tragedy to face Celine. <\/p>\n
Rene-Charles, age 21, and the twins Nelson and Eddy, ages 12, are the three sons Celine had with her deceased husband. <\/p>\n

When she first met Rene, a 38-year-old singer, he was in Canada when she was just 12-years-old. He was appointed her boss. <\/p>\n
He reportedly mortgaged his home in order to finance her 1981 debut album La Voix du beau Dieu, demonstrating his commitment to supporting her career. <\/p>\n
Rene and Celine started dating in 1987, when she was only 19 and he was 45, and they became engaged the following year. <\/p>\n
But it wasn’t until 1993 that she made their relationship public, inserting a statement about it into the sleeve notes of her album The Colour Of My Love. <\/p>\n
Their nuptials took place in Montreal’s Notre-Dame Basilica, which also served as the location for Rene’s funeral and the christening of their firstborn son Rene-Charles. <\/p>\n
In January 2016, Rene, who had terminal throat cancer, passed away at the age of 73 after having a heart attack.Daniel, Celine’s brother, passed away from throat cancer two days later. <\/p>\n
