Willie Nelson isn’t usually seen in suits and ties. The country and western legend is often seen in public and on stage wearing an \u2018ordinary person’s\u2019 attire of blue jeans and a t-shirt. <\/p>\n

But there was a very good reason for his new, darker appearance.The Gershwin Prize ceremony was held in Washington, D.C., so Nelson made the trip there to attend.<\/p>\n

This year’s winner, Willie Nelson, adds the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song to his already impressive list of honors. <\/p>\n

There will be more to the ceremony than just presenting the award. Musicians and other celebrities pay tribute to the honored visitor. <\/p>\n

Many famous people took the time to acknowledge Nelson. The performance of \u2018Seven Spanish Angels\u2019 that reduced Nelson to tears was undoubtedly the night’s high point. <\/p>\n

Nelson’s pals and fellow musicians Alison Krauss and Jamey Johnson played his timeless hit. Nelson was overcome with emotion as he listened to the performance. <\/p>\n

The song was made popular by a duet between Nelson and Ray Charles.This song was first recorded and published in 1984 by the two. <\/p>\n

Charles’s biggest country chart hit came from this release, therefore it made headlines. <\/p>\n

Nelson’s documented struggles with the IRS many years ago have, unfortunately, resulted in nothing but distressing and embarrassing headlines. <\/p>\n

Thankfully, his former audience has moved on from those scandals, and the media no longer dwells on his tax problems. <\/p>\n

Nelson’s achievements keep him in the public eye. Not only has Willie Nelson been honored for his achievements in the entertainment industry, but he has also been promoted to the next level of his Tae Kwon Do black belt. <\/p>\n

You could say the motivational celebrity enjoys being active, even though he is no longer on the road as frequently as he once was. <\/p>\n
