Music by Roy Clark has the ability to transcend generations. He was a musical and entertaining maestro. In many of his performances for the variety show Hee Haw, he could even incorporate comedy.<\/p>\n

Even when he moved into the 1990s, he never lost his touch. Despite his reputation for performing upbeat, appealing music, he sang a fairly somber song during this live performance. <\/p>\n

He sang \u2018Yesterday When I Was Young\u2019 in front of a live crowd in 1998. He begins by playing a little guitar before saying the first line: \u2018Yesterday.\u2019 The audience is beginning to applaud. <\/p>\n

Clark sings about time and love as the piano plays the rest of the tune. He describes how the past <\/p>\n

can look simple with a lot of emotion and force. In his hypnotic voice, he keeps harping on about fantasies of former delights. <\/p>\n

A calming chorus comes in as he sings to set the scene. Clark keeps singing about yearning for the past. His voice is incredibly sad yet content at the same time. <\/p>\n

He sings songs to sing and about crazy delights. Also mentioned by Clark is the ache he has never experienced before. There is a persistent realization that you are also losing your youth. <\/p>\n

Then Clark briefly performs some progressive yet lovely guitar. His playing combines delight and nostalgia. He resumes singing after lowering the intensity of his guitar playing. <\/p>\n

The country singer sings about more important matters. He discusses haughtiness, pride, love, and friends who leave. The choir adds more melancholy to their stirring melody. <\/p>\n

As Clark talks about passing, you can hear the piano more clearly. His final lines, in which he laments the passing of his youth, are brilliantly emotional. <\/p>\n

The remainder of the band then plays a complete closure to bring the song to an end. Cheers emerge from the audience. <\/p>\n

After this performance, Roy Clark happily had more days in front of him. In 2009, he would be admitted to the Country Music Hall of Fame. In 2018, Clark would pass away.<\/p>\n
