Sandy Hazelip and Ellie Hamby are spreading the idea that \u2018if you don’t utilize it, you lose it\u2019 to senior people all across the world, from Beijing to Bognor Regis to Buenos Aires. <\/p>\n

In order to enjoy advanced fun at their advanced age, the people who are 80 years old are replicating the journey of Phillias Fogg and Passepartout by traveling around the world in 80 days.<\/p>\n

Both Hazelip and Hamby were working in Africa when they first met, and it was in Zambia that they did so. Hamby is a documentary photographer, while Hazelip is a licensed medical practitioner. <\/p>\n

They had already been on several trips together before they came up with the idea to visit all seven continents and all <\/p>\n

seven wonders of the world in a mission to celebrate their 80th birthdays by traveling around the world in 80 days. <\/p>\n

This friendship was destined to develop, and they had already had several trips together before they came up with the idea. <\/p>\n

\u2018We are not able to go in the first class. And so, when we have other ladies say things like, \u2018Oh, I would love to travel with you two,\u2019<\/p>\n

the very first thing I do is look at their hands. This is especially true when they say it to us. \u2018They don’t <\/p>\n

want to travel with us if they have a nice appearance,\u2019 Hazelip said in an interview with CBS news.<\/p>\n

The highlights of their adventure up to this point include taking in the view of the world from above Mount Everest in an aircraft and setting foot on Antarctica for the first time. <\/p>\n

Despite the fact that they have both undergone total knee replacements, they have already traveled to 18 different countries, experienced a sled ride that was pulled by <\/p>\n

a dog team, seen the Eternal City, the northern lights above Lapland, and a trek to see emperor penguins. Their overall itinerary includes all of these activities. <\/p>\n

Hamby responded by saying, \u2018My daughter is not very concerned.\u2019 \u2018All she does is say, ‘Well, if Mom jumps out of a hot air balloon in Egypt or off of the mountain…’\u2019 <\/p>\n

That’s not a problem. She is living the life that she has always dreamed of living, and I couldn’t be happier for her.’\u2019<\/p>\n

Their credo is to maintain a positive attitude at all times and to never allow themselves to become angry. <\/p>\n

They also have high hopes that their journey will encourage other silver hairs to take a farewell tour of some kind rather than wasting away in a nursing home.<\/p>\n
