Michelle Yeoh’s mother, Janet Yeoh, wasn’t present when her daughter made history at the 2023 Oscars, but she was wildly applauding for her in Malaysia, which is in the middle of the world. <\/p>\n

She won the Oscar for best actress on March 12 for her breathtaking performance in the science fiction film \u2018Everything, Everywhere, <\/p>\n

All at Once,\u2019 making history as the first Asian woman to ever receive the prestigious honor. The actress debuted in \u2018Everything, Everywhere, Everything at Once\u2019 as the lead. <\/p>\n

A few hours after Yeoh’s historic night, a global news organization by the name of AFP posted a video on Twitter of her mother’s jubilant response to her daughter’s success.<\/p>\n

Janet Yeoh is seen in the video wiping a tear from her eye before rising to her feet and joining the others in the room in applauding. <\/p>\n

I can’t hold back my excitement. After the incident, the 84-year-old woman told reporters, \u2018I’m proud of my daughter.\u2019 \u2018I’m proud of my daughter a lot. My child is a girl who works very hard.\u2019<\/p>\n

Following that, Janet Yeoh was seen pointing to a bagel with her hands in reference to the lucrative movie her daughter had made. <\/p>\n

Every time the movie won an award that night, Jamie Lee Curtis, Stephanie Hsu, and the rest of the cast of <\/p>\n

\u2018Everything, Everywhere, All at Once\u2019 did the identical gesture. Three honors were given to Yeoh’s \u2018Everything, Everywhere, Everything at Once\u2019. <\/p>\n

The Yeoh family hosted an Oscar-watching party on March 13, when they were joined by two Malaysian government ministers and a sizable number of fans, according to a report by the Associated Press.<\/p>\n

The website quotes Janet Yeoh as saying, \u2018I genuinely adore my daughter, and she has made Malaysia proud,\u2019 at the event. \u2018Malaysia Boleh!\u2019 which translates to \u2018Malaysia Can!\u2019 was her final phrase. <\/p>\n

She also called her daughter \u2018my little princess\u2019\u2019when talking about her. Michelle Yeoh held <\/p>\n

up her golden prize during a video call to her mother after the awards ceremony, according to the Associated Press (AP).<\/p>\n

The recipient of the Academy Award made a moving speech in which she dedicated it to her mother after receiving it from previous winners Jessica Chastain and Halle Berry. <\/p>\n

The latter made history in 2002 when she became the first person of color and the first Black woman to win the award for best actress. <\/p>\n

In her opening remarks, Michelle Yeoh paid tribute to the young Asian boys and girls who will <\/p>\n

see her success as \u2018a light of hope and opportunity.\u2019 This was spoken by her before turning to her mother. <\/p>\n

The 60-year-old actor said, \u2018Here is evidence \u2014 Dream big, and dreams do come true,\u2019 to the group. Don’t ever let someone convince you that you are a woman who has passed your prime. Don’t give up. <\/p>\n

I have to dedicate this to my mother and to other parents because they are the real superheroes in our world, she said. Without them, none of us would be present here tonight. <\/p>\n

She thanked the Academy for their support and said she couldn’t wait to bring her Oscar back to Malaysia after her speech.<\/p>\n
