Her fear of uttering the first words to break the silence was palpable. Eliza Jamkochian Bahneman, age 36, and her husband Erik, <\/p>\n
age 41, were overjoyed to learn they were expecting a child in 2018 after 9 months of attempting to conceive. <\/p>\n
Bahneman’s joy knew no bounds, and she told her friends, sister, and sister-in-law the news of her pregnancy. <\/p>\n

It seemed like they were all pregnant at the same time, or at least that their due dates were somewhat close together. <\/p>\n
The expecting mother was counting down the days till the arrival of her miraculous child.
\nThe girl baby did, <\/p>\n
of course, make the decision to enter the world outside her mother’s womb, albeit a full month earlier than doctors had predicted. <\/p>\n
Isabella, or \u2018Bella,\u2019 was born on the 31st of October, 2018. After 12 hours of labor, this baby weighed in at 5 and a half pounds. <\/p>\n
What was supposed to be a joyous occasion suddenly lost its luster. Bahneman became unnerved by <\/p>\n

the eerie quiet that fell over the gathering as rumors spread in whispers. She reflected on the situation and said: <\/p>\n
How come no one is congratulating me? So what is going on to make my spouse so frightened and unsure of himself? My mum won’t look at me; why is that? <\/p>\n
After extensive testing in the neonatal intensive care unit, doctors determined that Bella had the extremely rare genetic disease Treacher Collins. <\/p>\n
As a result, the face bones don’t form correctly.
\nIt’s because of this that Isabella had problems from birth, such deafness and a narrow airway. <\/p>\n
This marked the beginning of a long and difficult road full with hospitalizations, operations, and last-minute medical problems. <\/p>\n
Bella had to take part in a wide variety of therapies. Because of her hearing impairment, she attended music therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy. <\/p>\n
