The example of American Desmond Doss shows that one can become a hero without spilling someone else’s blood.The mother raised the boy in the spirit of Adventism.<\/p>\n

When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and the United States entered World War II, Doss was working at the Newport News shipyard. That work was like armor for him.<\/p>\n
However, on April 1, 1942, Doss was voluntarily drafted into the army. On August 17, before leaving for the front,<\/p>\n
he married Adventist Dorothy Shute. But when he was assigned to the 44th South Carolina Rifle Division, problems arose.<\/p>\n
The thing was, as a child, Doss had witnessed a fight. Doss had vowed never to carry a weapon after terrible childhood memories\u2026 No force in the world made him break his oath.<\/p>\n

The interesting thing is that Doss himself never considered himself a pacifist and did not refuse to join the service. On the contrary, he sincerely wanted to fulfill his duty for the motherland.<\/p>\n
He simply could not pick up a weapon, even during training. Doss saw the only way out of breaking the sixth commandment, \u2018Thou shalt not kill,\u2019 in becoming a military doctor.<\/p>\n
But the command could not take into account the individual wishes and preferences of everyone and sent him to the front<\/p>\n
On the front lines, Doss was seen as a coward and a believer by the soldiers, which is why they often mocked him.<\/p>\n
And here the boy was brought before a military tribunal for disobeying the commander’s direct order.<\/p>\n
Eventually, Doss’s father contacted the military chaplain, who in turn called the regimental commander. <\/p>\n
After many trials, Doss managed to become a military doctor without ever picking up a weapon.<\/p>\n

Wading under enemy fire, knee-deep in mud, Doss carried the wounded off the battlefield, seemingly oblivious to the mortal danger.<\/p>\n
In 1944 In December, he went to another hot spot on the front line, the Philippine island of Leyte.<\/p>\n
Of the hundreds of Americans who invaded the mountains and counterattacked, only three hundred returned. However, one man refused to come down from the mountains.<\/p>\n
At night, a few meters away from the Japanese positions, he looked for the wounded, bandaged them and carried them to his tent.<\/p>\n
Then one soldier after another was roped down from the mountains, one soldier every ten minutes. That man was Desmond Doss, who had already proven his courage.<\/p>\n
