In an interview with the LA Times, the couple talked about how they met and how they’ve managed to stay together for more than 40 years.<\/p>\n

Mavis went to a comedy club to get ideas for the comedy she was writing. Her friends persuaded her to go to the club’s comedy nights so she could meet new people and maybe find people to work with.<\/p>\n
The first time Mavis went, she and her friends were given front-row seats, and Jay was the comedian who was on stage. After the comedian’s show was over and he saw Mavis in the bathroom, they could finally talk. Surprisingly, the comic asked, “Are you the girl in front?<\/p>\n
Jay said that all the women he likes were born on September 5, which is an odd thing to say about them.<\/p>\n
After she told him she was the young woman in the front row, he asked Mavis, who told him her birthday was September 5.<\/p>\n

After their first meeting, Mavis went to the comedy club more often, and their friendship kept getting stronger. Mavis knew she had nothing to lose when things got serious with Jay because she was sure she didn’t want to get married.<\/p>\n
But Jay also knew that Mavis’s family was having a hard time making ends meet, and the more he worked, the more he worried about his partner’s future.<\/p>\n
The comedian said that he had great health insurance. He started to think about what to do when he found out that Mavis could only use it if they were married.<\/p>\n
Mavis began to change her mind about getting married, too. She said she was 34 and had been a feminist for a while, but now that she had nothing left to fight for, she stopped being one.<\/p>\n
Also, some of the things she said to Jay were different. Mavis said she had always thought of herself as a “voyager” who went from island to island, but Jay gave her the peace she had been looking for.<\/p>\n

How and why Jay and Mavis Leno decided not to have kids<\/p>\n
Mavis asked Jay to marry her right after he bought a house, so he didn’t have a ring. After he spent so much money on it, Mavis said she would never have made him get one.<\/p>\n
The comic gave his wife a beautiful diamond ring after they had been married for ten years. She showed it off in an interview with the LA Times. The couple got married in a small, private wedding at a friend’s house on November 3, 1980, the same day Jay’s parents got married.<\/p>\n
Mavis said that it was her fault that the pair didn’t have any children. The philanthropist said that she didn’t like how “The Honeymooners” portrayed moms because she watched the show as a child.<\/p>\n
Mavis said that it looked like the husbands were stuck because they were always trying to get away from their wives and young children.<\/p>\n
“When I was about seven or eight, I told my mom I would never get married or have kids,” she said. I believe this is how guys learn about women.<\/p>\n

Mavis is the president of the Feminist Majority Foundation and the chair of the movement to end gender apartheid in Afghanistan when she is not with her husband.<\/p>\n
In his younger years, Jay spent most of his time going on trips and acting at comedy clubs in the auditorium. Then he became the host of “The Tonight Show,” which was a very busy job.<\/p>\n
Jay got burned very badly, but he got better.
\nEven though Mavis and Jay have been married for 42 years, their relationship is still exciting. However, they couldn’t celebrate their anniversary because Jay got burned in an accident.<\/p>\n
Jay has spent his whole life working on cars, but on November 12, 2022, a fire broke out while he was working on a steam engine under one of the cars.<\/p>\n
He had major burns on his face, chest, and hands, so he had surgery to take off the damaged skin and replace it with skin from his own body. This helped the person get better faster.<\/p>\n
Mavis was worried about what would happen to her husband, but his doctor told her that he was a great patient who gave cookies to kids and told jokes.<\/p>\n
The doctors and nurses also said that he was kind to them and valued what they did to help him feel better.<\/p>\n
