It was like giving two sisters the best Christmas present a few weeks early when they were finally able to speak to one another after being apart for a very long period.<\/p>\n

Although seeing her older sister Harriet Carter for the first time at such a late stage in her life was tough for Linda Hoffman, who is now 73 years old, she stated she would not have had it any other way.<\/p>\n

It was Carter who said, \u2018I think we found each other when we were meant to.\u2019<\/p>\n

Before their initial chance encounter, which happened after they both registered for accounts on Ancestry.com, the women did not know one another.<\/p>\n

Hoffman was unaware that she had a sibling named Carter at the time, as Carter, now 76, had been placed for adoption not long after being born when her parents were only 18 years old.<\/p>\n

Around two years ago, the sisters were able to find one another on the ancestry website, which connects families from around the world and gathers records of family history.<\/p>\n

Hoffman recalled that Harriet had sent her a message that read, \u2018I think it’s possible that we’re related. <\/p>\n

Despite the fact that we were a perfect match, neither of our parents ever mentioned it to anyone.<\/p>\n

The two eventually made contact over the phone, and since then they have been talking virtually every day.<\/p>\n

However, because of the ongoing pandemic, the sisters were unable to meet in person straight away.<\/p>\n

In the end, the sisters were able to catch up while sitting in the airport terminal and looking over old pictures of their mother and the rest of the family, including Carter, who wasn’t there at the time.<\/p>\n
