<\/p>\nMeet Sara Geurts, a 31-year-old woman with a rare skin condition who loves her individual beauty. She discusses her experience of growing up with a different <\/p>\n
appearance while promoting body-positive ideas to encourage others. \u2018You’re beautiful, and you can achieve whatever you want,\u2019 Geurts tells everyone.<\/p>\n

Sara Geurts was identified at age 10 as having a skin and joint-related uncommon genetic disease. The disorder causes a decrease in collagen formation, <\/p>\n
which causes young people’s skin to be brittle and wrinkled. According to Geurts, her prognosis at the time made her dream of becoming a model dubious.<\/p>\n

Geurts made the decision to share her experience with the Love Your Lines campaign, which honors distinctive skin characteristics, in 2015. <\/p>\n
People were urged to contribute images and tales about their circumstances as part of the campaign. The #LoveYourLines initiative validated and disseminated Geurts’ narrative.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n
She admits that her skin is her biggest insecurity and that she used to cover it up in high school. <\/p>\n
She admits that she didn’t want to talk about it because she thought doing so would be dishonest. Her tale has an <\/p>\n
impact on millions of other people, including those who battle with their own body image and self-perception.<\/p>\n

Even though she already has a loyal social media following and made an appearance in a short film, Geurts revealed that it took her some time to develop the confidence she possesses today. <\/p>\n
She discussed how a previous relationship in her early 20s helped her see how her difficulties with body image affected her and people close to her in an essay for The Mighty.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n
Instead of hiding, Geurts chose to pursue photography and modeling with the goal of challenging society’s constrictive <\/p>\n
idea of beauty as established by the fashion and beauty industries. She declared her intention to dismantle the unspoken <\/p>\n
standards of excellence that permeate all spheres of life, including employment, socializing, and interpersonal relationships.<\/p>\n

Of course, making this journey alone herself would be extremely difficult, but Sara is lucky to have supportive individuals by her side. Sara recently posted a photo of herself with her <\/p>\n
mother and captioned it, “Thank you for all the great memories, love, and light you have provided into our lives so far. There are still innumerable blessings and memories to be had.<\/p>\n
There are so many role models out there who encourage others to follow their passions and overcome challenges. <\/p>\n
