Career of Mel Brooks
\nWith a career spanning 70 years, Brooks, who was born on June 28, 1926, is one of the great living legends of show business. <\/p>\n
He began his career in television by co-creating Get Smart and writing for Sid Caesar’s Your Show of Shows.<\/p>\n
But it was as a film director and screenwriter\u2014starting with the Oscar-winning The Producers\u2014that he found his greatest renown and fortune. <\/p>\n
Both of the parodies Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles were enormous successes and usually <\/p>\n
cited as two of the greatest comedy of all time. He also directed Spaceballs, History of the World, Part I, Silent Movie, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights.<\/p>\n

\nThe beneficiaries of this year’s honorary Oscars were announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Monday. <\/p>\n
According to academy president Janet Yang, the awards recognize \u2018four trailblazers who have transformed the film industry and inspired generations of filmmakers and movie fans.\u2019<\/p>\n
This year’s honorees include Mel Brooks in recognition of his extensive and legendary career. <\/p>\n
Yang stated that Mel Brooks’ comedy \u2018lights up our hearts” and that his legacy \u2018has made a lasting impact on every aspect of entertainment.\u2019<\/p>\n

deliver transcendent performances that set new standards in acting,\u2019 Yang said of the actress.<\/p>\n
