It is said that the cost of an item determines how much a buyer is willing to pay for it. One boy from <\/p>\n

New Jersey got acquainted with this market law during the next episode of the Antiques Roadshow. This story took place in 2014, when a boy, <\/p>\n

who wished to remain anonymous, came to the program and asked David Weiss, a professional auctioneer and one of its presenters, <\/p>\n

to estimate the value of the painting he brought. According to the young guest, he paid only $ 2 for the painting he was very surprised to learn about its true value.<\/p>\n

In a conversation with Weiss, the host of the show, the boy spoke about how this picture fell into his hands. <\/p>\n

He first saw her during the auction, in which he took part with his father. The boy immediately liked the picture depicting a woman with a child.<\/p>\n

The young participant of the show also said that from time to time he likes to wander around local flea markets and auctions in search of curious paintings <\/p>\n

and silverware, on the sale of which he then sometimes manages to earn some money. The father disapproved of his son’s decision <\/p>\n

to buy this particular painting, but the boy insisted on his own, and soon they managed to get it for only two dollars.<\/p>\n

Weiss carefully examined the picture and came to the conclusion that it had been painted as early as 1844. <\/p>\n

He also managed to decipher the initials of the author, written out in watercolor it turned out to be the famous Dutch artist Albert Neuhuis.<\/p>\n

In a conversation with the boy, Weiss noted that his purchase is a fine piece of art from a time when watercolor artists often tried their hand at depicting women with their children.<\/p>\n

After completing his peer review, Weiss asked the boy how much he thought the painting might be worth. <\/p>\n

He replied that, in his opinion, it costs at least $ 150. Weiss agreed with this statement, but advised him not to be modest after all, it costs much more.<\/p>\n

The presenter said that connoisseurs are usually ready to pay from 1000 to 1500 dollars for paintings of this era and this style. <\/p>\n

And after that, Weiss said that, in his opinion, the cost of this particular canvas should be estimated at $ 1,498.<\/p>\n

Hearing the leader’s words, the boy could hardly suppress a cry of joy. And in response to his question about what he thinks about his peer review, the boy said: \u2018I think I’ll get rich\u2019!<\/p>\n

Weiss rejoiced along with the young guest and even said that he had no doubts about his financial success <\/p>\n

if he continued to make such successful purchases. The boy himself said that one day he wants to learn the profession of an art dealer.<\/p>\n
