<\/p>\nIn a recent interview, Jamie Lee Curtis boldly shared the details of her sobriety struggle.<\/p>\n
The 64-year-old actress spoke out about her battle with opioid addiction on the Morning Joe, saying she felt \u2018incredibly lucky\u2019 to have won the battle 24 years ago.<\/p>\n
During the conversation, Curtis spoke candidly about how people largely ignored some of her darkest periods. \u2018My worst day was almost invisible to anyone else,\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n

\u2018Lucky me. I didn’t make bad choices while I was high or under the influence that I would later regret for the rest of my life, she said. <\/p>\n
\u2018There are women in prison whose lives have been destroyed by alcohol and drugs, not because they were violent felons or horrible people, but because they were addicts.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018I am incredibly lucky that wasn’t my path,\u2019 she continued.<\/p>\n
The Oscar-winning actress, who acknowledged to being an opiate addict who enjoyed the \u2018opiate buzz,\u2019 found clarity and a fresh perspective after becoming sober. <\/p>\n
\u2018If fentanyl was available, as easily available as it is today on the street,\u2019 she further said, \u2018I’d be dead.\u2019<\/p>\n
She continued abusing drugs until 1999, during which time she secretly led a double life of theft and plotting. <\/p>\n

However, she has later claimed that achieving sobriety was her greatest accomplishment since it has allowed her to living an \u2018incredible life.\u2019<\/p>\n
She has been sober for several years, and according to Curtis, it is \u2018the key to freedom, the <\/p>\n
freedom to be me, to not be looking in the mirror in the reflection and trying to see somebody else.\u2019<\/p>\n
I check myself in the mirror,\u2019 she continued. Ich sehe mich. I accept who I am. I continue because, do you know what? <\/p>\n
We have a lot of things to do in the world. I’m ending the cycle that has essentially ended the lives of my family’s generations.<\/p>\n
Curtis experienced the tragic death of her brother Nicholas, who overdosed on drugs at the age of 21 and passed away. Actor Tony Curtis, her father, battled alcohol and drug addiction.<\/p>\n
\u2018Getting sober remains my single greatest accomplishment,\u2019 she affirmed. \u2018Bigger than my husband, both of my children, and all effort, success, and failure combined. Anything.\u2019<\/p>\n
