<\/p>\nThere are many unexpected moments on \u2018American Idol.\u2019 There are both diamonds and duds produced during the audition process, but one thing is for certain\u2014they are never dull.<\/p>\n
W\u00e9 Ani, a young woman with a voice so high it seems like she has sucked up some helium, enters the audition room. <\/p>\n
Her response to Luke’s question about her name is, \u2018My name is W\u00e9 Ani, and I’m from Harlem, New York.\u2019<\/p>\n
Luke exclaims, \u2018Unbelievable, I love it.\u2019 Is it really your voice, Lionel wonders in shock. \u2018Oh my god!\u2019 <\/p>\n
She agrees with the judges’ recommendation to pursue voice acting and claims to have been interested in it for some time.<\/p>\n
\u2018Well, here’s the audition,\u2019 says Katy Perry. The piano then starts to play in the background as she <\/p>\n
starts to sing. She suddenly sings with power and resonance, her voice becoming deep and mellow.<\/p>\n

‘Anyone’ by Demi Lovato is sung by W\u00e9 Ani. Demi’s seventh album, \u2018Dancing with the Devil…the Art of Starting Over,\u2019<\/p>\n
contained the song. Although the challenging song is difficult to perform, the audition is fantastic.<\/p>\n
She has excellent vibrato and sings the high notes flawlessly. After a standing ovation, Lionel congratulates her and says,<\/p>\n
\u2018You are amazing.\u2019 She thanks him and sheds tears when he tells her the performance was ridiculous.
\nWhen Katy inquires as to the meaning of her name, she responds,<\/p>\n
\u2018It means diligence in Swahili.\u2019 Congratulations, Katy says, and \u2018Way to throw the curveball.\u2019 She is sent to Hollywood with a unanimous \u2018Yes\u2019 vote.<\/p>\n
