<\/p>\nThe birthday celebration for the local star was also attended by the mayor of Cherryville, H.L. Beam, as well as the commissioner of Gaston County, Allen Fraley.<\/p>\n
At her first birthday party earlier this month, line dancers and square dancers entertained Lorene Summey, who is 105 years old. <\/p>\n
Their performances were full of energy and enthusiasm. The participation of members of Summey’s local community, such as Lily, 12, <\/p>\n
who brought her yellow Labrador for the centenarian to pet, helped to make the celebration an experience that will not soon be forgotten. <\/p>\n
The lady of the hour got to meet Daniel Jackson, a pet pony, as she was dressed in a jewel-encrusted tiara and a pink Western dress with vivid flowers adorning it. <\/p>\n
In addition, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper and Representative Virginia Foxx extended their best birthday wishes to the young lady who was celebrating her special day.<\/p>\n

But other states beyond North Carolina also observed Summey’s special day. She’d earlier said she wanted 105 birthday cards, <\/p>\n
one for each year of her life, and was thrilled to get more than 1200. She received cards from all 50 states, <\/p>\n
as well as from England. Daily deliveries are still being made, according to her carers at Somerset Court in Cherryville, who spoke to USA Today.<\/p>\n
The fact that Cherryville Mayor H.L. Beam and Gaston County Commissioner Allen Fraley attended Summey’s birthday celebration is proof that she <\/p>\n
is well-known in the community. The oldest person residing in Gaston or Lincoln counties, according to Beam, is the native of Cherryville and the oldest member of the First Baptist Church in Cherryville.<\/p>\n

Police and firefighters from Cherryville accompanied her to the event. The event, which was held in the care home where she resides, was attended by about 200 people.<\/p>\n
The crew turned the main dining room into a barn because she wanted a hoedown. Summey grinned and liked the dancing and singing with the other prisoners as she <\/p>\n
clapped along to \u2018Cotton-Eyed Joe.\u2019 When Summey’s dancing partner Joseph fell unwell and was unable to dance with her that night, his brother Ronnie Parks stepped up.<\/p>\n

According to reports, Summey worked for Carolina Freight, the town’s prior trucking company, for 39 years while also attending night classes. <\/p>\n
According to Jennifer High of Vale, her great-grandmother loved and looked after her \u2018PawPaw,\u2019 who passed away around 25 years ago. <\/p>\n
She was an excellent caregiver. Up until his death, she was present with my great-grandfather Walt, said High.<\/p>\n
At the age of 82, Roger, Summey’s only child, spoke of his mother as a strong woman who loved him even while she was attempting to correct him.<\/p>\n
Even the doctors and other residents at her retirement center are familiar with her. Summey and <\/p>\n
Ann Kozliner regularly eat lunch together, and Ann expressed her excitement at seeing her friend have a good time on her birthday. <\/p>\n
\u2018She has a wonderful spirit and a great attitude,\u2019 the 67-year-old added. \u2018She is grateful to be alive every day.\u2019<\/p>\n

Summey apparently answers questions and speaks clearly when she sees her doctor. God has blessed her, <\/p>\n
