a prince to marry, and a dress that costs as much as a small nation. By the time we actually get married, <\/p>\n

most of us find that knowing that our loved ones will be present on our special day is enough, but every bride and groom still strives to add their own distinctive touch.<\/p>\n
For Rachel Pitman, who married her fianc\u00e9 in July 2023, having her 95-year-old grandfather serve as her flower boy was her first priority.<\/p>\n
Have you ever heard of a \u2018flower grandad\u2019? You’ve probably heard of flower girls, who are charged with <\/p>\n
following the last bridesmaid or maid of honor down the aisle while tossing petals, herbs, or confetti.<\/p>\n
Probably not. I’ll admit that before I came across Rachel Pitman’s Instagram video from her wedding day, I had never really given the idea any thought.<\/p>\n

The video in question has gained a lot of attention for all the right reasons, and its implied backstory is quite moving.<\/p>\n
In the video, Bert Edlin, Rachel’s grandfather, led the wedding procession while carrying a basket of flower petals and beaming with pride.<\/p>\n
In a different Instagram post, Rachel explained why Bert’s attendance was so important to her, mentioning that the 95-year-old <\/p>\n
had a challenging surgery the year before her wedding. He had a minimal chance of making a full recovery from the operation, according to Rachel.<\/p>\n
\u2018Doctors told us recovery was slim and even if he did recover, he wouldn’t be able to walk, talk, or eat again,\u2019 Rachel’s post stated.<\/p>\n
He handed me a piece of paper with a letter that read, \u2018I will make it to your wedding,\u2019 during the time when he was unable to speak.<\/p>\n
Bert completed months of physical therapy following surgery because he was determined to beat the odds and be present for his granddaughter’s special day.<\/p>\n

Pitman said, \u2018And that he did. Pitman stated, \u2018In the most special way, WALKING down the aisle as my flower grandad.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018You’re the most determined person I know, and I feel so blessed to call you my Grandad,\u2019 the speaker said.<\/p>\n
