<\/p>\nA construction worker discovered a message in a bottle hidden between the kitchen walls of a 150-year-old house that was being restored in a little community outside of Peoria.<\/p>\n
A video of the 1975 note, which was written by a 14-year-old girl, went viral on TikTok and sparked a mini-storm of curiosity in the life of the woman, who is now 61.<\/p>\n
A carpenter by the name of Dakota Mohn was working in a burned-out home in the community of Green Valley. <\/p>\n
He discovered writing that read, \u2018Note 9\/29\/1975\u2019with arrows pointing to a small notch in the wood while tearing down the walls in the front living room.<\/p>\n

A letter in a bottle was inside; it was lost, but not at sea. One of railroad lineman Earnest Herron’s five daughters, Stephanie Herron, signed this document. <\/p>\n
She then moved to New York City, adopted her husband Poit’s last name, had five children of her own, and taught inner city youngsters.<\/p>\n
Stephanie Poit told the PJ Star, \u2018I was surprised, completely stunned, when I heard about the note.\u2019<\/p>\n
Sincerely, I completely forgot about it. Years pass, and life goes on. I’m shocked by how many individuals this has affected. <\/p>\n
People who remember me from my youth in Green Valley have written me notes. It was a fantastic spot to raise a family.<\/p>\n
To anybody discovers this, it read as follows:<\/p>\n
September 29th, 1975. Herrons Stephanie is my name. My mother, father (Earnest), Becky, and Valerie and I all reside in this area.<\/p>\n
The president is Gerald Ford. Mrs. Lay lives next door to us. The kid is due soon, and mom is pregnant. This home was constructed in 1872, as far as we know. The house is being renovated.<\/p>\n
On the west side of the building sits the Illinois Central Railroad. 8 years have passed since we moved in.<\/p>\n

My father is a railroad employee with Chicago Northwestern. About 650 individuals reside in Green Valley. Becky is 12 years old, Val is 16, and I am 14.<\/p>\n

P.S. Rose Herron is the name of my mother. She holds a nursing license. At the Hopedale Nursing Home, she works. Nebraska is where she was born.<\/p>\n

Poit adds that time capsules were extremely popular in 1975 when speaking with the Star. She and her family then moved into the 1872-era home, which at the time was close to a busy railroad.<\/p>\n
The house was already 100 years old when they moved in, but the family continued to add on, turning a porch into the kitchen\/living area where Dakota retrieved the time capsule.<\/p>\n
Mohn, who on his Facebook page referred to the note as the coolest thing he had ever discovered, is working with the home’s new owner to install a shadow box <\/p>\n
