<\/p>\nAmerican John Corcora worked as a school teacher for almost two dozen years, unable to read or write. <\/p>\n
Both his colleagues and students did not suspect that such an experienced pedagogue suffers from a rare disorder that prevents him from mastering the skill of reading and writing.<\/p>\n
How an illiterate man was able to teach for so many years, he confessed to himself years later, when his adventure was revealed.<\/p>\n
The words are not sorted into letters in any way<\/p>\n
John spent his childhood in New Mexico, he was brought up in a large family. As the man remembers, he started speaking late, but always sought knowledge.<\/p>\n

\u2018When I went to school, I really wanted to write and read well, not lagging behind my older sisters in anything.<\/p>\n
In the first grade, everything went well, they only asked us to behave like an example: to sit humbly, not to talk, <\/p>\n
to listen carefully to the teacher, to go to the toilet for a change. And here I had problems in the second grade. They started teaching us to read,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
The boy carefully listened to the teacher’s explanations, but no matter how hard he tried, he could not understand how to put those letters into words. <\/p>\n
Opening the textbook, he had almost the same feeling as an ordinary American would have if you put a paper in front of him, <\/p>\n
where everything is written in Chinese. John turned eight, nine, ten, and he couldn’t read or write.<\/p>\n
The child was transferred to the backward group, and he was very ashamed. His parents were also worried about it, <\/p>\n
but the teacher said optimistically. This phrase the teachers repeated at the end of each school year, moving him to the next grade.<\/p>\n

John hated school and went there every day as a truant because he felt like an outsider in class. However, success came from where they did not expect.<\/p>\n
\u2018I have always loved sports and had excellent athletic credentials. I successfully participated in competitions, <\/p>\n
so the teachers started to turn a blind eye to my learning problems.I also had mathematical abilities. <\/p>\n
I thought very well in my mind, I easily remembered the school schedule. Besides, I found a great common language with my peers.The girls were crazy about me,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
Gradually, the teenager learned to be cunning. During the school inspection work, he simply rewrote <\/p>\n
from his classmates’ notebooks everything that was written by them, not understanding what he was writing.<\/p>\n
After finishing school, the boy entered college. And there he continued to deceive students and teachers. <\/p>\n
For example, in some subjects he managed to get exam tickets because they were the same year after year.<\/p>\n

Once during the exam, he wrote the questions off the board, not understanding what they meant.<\/p>\n
His friend excelled in his class and had a crush on a girl but didn’t have the courage to admit it. John promises his fellow student to help him if he solves his problems.<\/p>\n
It cannot be said that John enjoyed his deception. He was ashamed, he was in pain. And at night he roared like a child. <\/p>\n
The boy was afraid to ask for help from those around him, because he did not believe that it was possible to help him.<\/p>\n
For the sake of justice, it should be noted that he can still write, but approximately as a first grade student does. <\/p>\n
With great effort, he got a few words on paper and also wrote his name. But he couldn’t read.
\nWhen John graduated from college, there was a shortage of professors in the country. <\/p>\n
It seems crazy, but he went to work as a teacher. He was never accused of cheating and believed that he would succeed in the job.<\/p>\n
