<\/p>\nA 48-year-old Ohio mother named Christie Werts did something that sparked a lot of discussion. She did something <\/p>\n
that not all women would: she adopted the son of her husband’s ex-wife. She did it as she loved him and had a difficult upbringing.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Five years ago, 48-year-old Christie Werts and her husband Wesley met. Together, they combined their two families, <\/p>\n
which included Austin and Dakota, as well as Megan and Vance, who belonged to Wesley and Christie, respectively.<\/p>\n

One day, they learned the tragic news that Austin and Dakota’s mother, Wesley’s ex-wife, had passed suddenly. <\/p>\n
The couple quickly made a big choice and joyfully accepted her new baby, Levi, into their family.<\/p>\n

As of January 2023, the mother has effectively finished Levi’s legal adoption procedure. He is currently being raised by her like a child. <\/p>\n
According to her, \u2018When I first heard about Levi, I didn’t think twice; I knew we had to take him into our family.\u2019<\/p>\n
Christie was adamant that Levi wouldn’t go through the same struggles she did growing up.<\/p>\n

In her opening statement, Christie states, \u2018I myself was raised in foster care and, while I had a fantastic experience overall, <\/p>\n
I did not want him to go into foster care. She gave birth to Levi on a Monday and died the following Friday, although my husband didn’t really talk to her family too much.<\/p>\n

She continues, \u2018We lived in another state at the time, so we sold our home in Ohio and rented a house in Texas because we had to officially foster to adopt him. So we did the process took 16 months.\u2019<\/p>\n
Even though her time spent in foster care had been mostly beneficial, she explained, she felt driven out of a strong love for her stepchildren <\/p>\n
to make sure they could be with their half-brother. She was determined to keep Levi out of the foster care system.<\/p>\n

She expressed her profound passion for children and quickly forged relationships with her stepchildren as well as an instant connection with her biological children. <\/p>\n
She first concerned that because they had never met before the circumstances could prevent her from feeling an instant connection with Levi, <\/p>\n
yet their friendship was special. However, Levi immediately captured her heart, and she felt a strong need to defend him.<\/p>\n
