head with the large blue toddler eyes of a 17-month-old? An exceptionally cute picture that will make you grin.<\/p>\n
The 33-year-old Roswell, Georgia couple Katelyn and Caleb Samples are parents to two young boys. As it turns out, <\/p>\n
Locklan, the youngest, has a full head of \u2018uncombable hair\u2019 due to a hereditary issue that causes his hair root and shaft to take on shapes other than the <\/p>\n
typical circular or oval ones, such as triangles, hearts, or flats. The end effect is a head full of <\/p>\n
unpredictable, delicate hair that looks like \u2018spun glass,\u2019 matting readily, and defying combs and brushes.<\/p>\n
Even though Locklan’s platinum-white hair defies maintenance, it surely attracts notice.<\/p>\n
According to his mother Katelyn, \u2018Lock’s hair immediately makes people smile!\u2019 to The Epoch Times. <\/p>\n
\u2018He just has a gift of making everyone happy wherever he goes.\u2019 She claims that people are so interested in Locklan that they even want to touch his wild hair.<\/p>\n

Not every time was his hair so obvious. Locklan had typical black hair when he was born. His dark hair went off a few months after he was born, <\/p>\n
and about six months old, blondish red \u2018peach fuzz\u2019 took its place. Then, at roughly the age of ten months, Locklan’s locks began to attract notice and inquiries. There was a difference.<\/p>\n
Locklan was sent to a pediatric dermatologist by his parents, who noticed something unusual and had samples of his hair examined. <\/p>\n
Locklan’s incredibly wild and cute head of hair was officially diagnosed as \u2018uncombable hair syndrome.\u2019 There wasn’t much more information available <\/p>\n
for the family to know about the relatively small number of proven cases of this kind (Katelyn estimates at least 100).<\/p>\n
We discovered that his hair is delicate and might take a while to grow. We also discovered that at puberty, his hair may entirely change. <\/p>\n
Spun glass hair is another term for this hair type, and it actually better captures the style and fragility of the hair, according to Katelyn.<\/p>\n

While none of the Samples family members have hair similar to Locklan’s at birth, there is a roughly 25% possibility <\/p>\n
that their future offspring may carry the trait. They also discovered that, although they are rare, there are other people with the same illness.<\/p>\n
Locklan’s father, Caleb, created the \u2018Uncombable Locks\u2019 Instagram profile shortly after learning about it, and the parents soon started uploading pictures to it. <\/p>\n
In addition to \u2018spreading joy\u2019 online, their goal was to raise awareness of uncombable hair syndrome. People smiled at Locklan’s photos; others had comparable tales to tell.<\/p>\n
\u2018As I connect with families worldwide who believe their children may have it and have simply been unaware of it, I am finding a lot more potential cases,\u2019 Katelyn stated.<\/p>\n

Locklan’s uncombable hair has generally been a pleasant experience for him and his family.<\/p>\n
The only thing that bothers us is when someone says, \u2018We’re so sorry about your hair!\u2019 Since we truly don’t apologize. <\/p>\n
His hair is a gift from God. His mother stated, \u2018We are raising both of our boys to be proud of who they are and what makes them stand out.\u2019<\/p>\n
Locklan is undoubtedly unique, and his family embraces the chance to encourage and support others.<\/p>\n
Given how gloomy the world is at the moment, we want to make people smile. Katelyn added, \u2018I also want <\/p>\n
to be a resource of knowledge or advice for parents who believe their kids might have the same hair type.<\/p>\n
