and sight, most people are born with a normal face. However, can you image living without a nose? <\/p>\n

From the day of her birth, Tessa Evans, a little child, has gone through this. The adorable girl was born with Bosma Arhinia Microphthalmia Syndrome, <\/p>\n

an extremely uncommon genetic illness, which includes complete loss of the nose as one of its symptoms, according to raredisease.org.<\/p>\n

Less than one hundred people worldwide have been diagnosed with this ailment, including Tessa. Grianne, her mother, wrote about their experience for the Irish Independent in 2017. <\/p>\n

\u2018I realized something wasn’t right when she came out. When the midwife noticed her expression, she writes, <\/p>\n

\u2018I said, ‘Baby’s not okay,’ and they started hitting all the buttons and shouting for people up the corridor.\u2019<\/p>\n

Not only is having a nose critical for breathing, but it also helps with other essential functions, such as detecting <\/p>\n

danger or determining the safety of food. Tessa, on the other hand, was unable to detect any scent.<\/p>\n

Grianne told the BBC, \u2018She can’t smell if something is dangerous, if something was burning, or if food is really rotten.\u2019<\/p>\n

Tessa doesn’t have the capacity to smell, yet she nevertheless goes about her daily life and gets colds and sneezes <\/p>\n

just like everyone else. But as a baby, she had a trachea tube implanted because of breathing issues.<\/p>\n

Tessa’s mother continued, \u2018It was funny the first time she sneezed, but we actually found out that it actually comes from your chest.\u2019<\/p>\n

Tessa had an operation when she was just two years old to have a cast put into her face so that it would gradually create a nose so that when she grew older, <\/p>\n

she would receive a final prosthesis, according to an article that the Daily Mail published in June 2015.<\/p>\n

Her parents, Grainne and Nathan Evans, made the decision to start the process early in order to prevent her from requiring invasive surgery down the road.<\/p>\n

Since then, the BBC has reported that the little girl’s face has undergone a significant transformation due to the development of a half formed nose. <\/p>\n

Later on, a medical tattoo artist will add nose and nostril shapes to further enhance the realism of the missing facial feature.<\/p>\n

However, Grianne revealed in a 2021 interview with Truly’s \u2018Born Different\u2019 that the implant had to be removed entirely due to certain infections when she was four years old.<\/p>\n

Tessa hoped to have the surgery done again in the future, despite her family’s opinion that she was attractive even without a nose.<\/p>\n

The family saw a physician at the time of the interview who could be able to assist her in getting a 3D-printed nose implant once more.<\/p>\n

Tessa remarked, \u2018I hope getting a new nose is not scary. I am excited about it.\u2019 The animated little girl, <\/p>\n

who plays like any other typical child, revealed that the first thing she does when she gets a nosebleed is put on her glasses.<\/p>\n

According to Tessa’s posts on Instagram, which is still live as of 2023, she is a happy 10-year-old girl. <\/p>\n

She enjoys growing up in a loving household and keeps sharing her medical journey. <\/p>\n
