The majority of parents closely monitor their kids. They also take note of any strange, peculiar, <\/p>\n

and minute alterations in their kids’ demeanor or state of mind. In situations where there is potential danger to their children, parents are typically among the first to recognize it.<\/p>\n

A YouTube video demonstrates how a vigilant mother in Utah helped medical professionals identify and treat her child’s retinoblastoma, a rare retinal cancer. <\/p>\n

On the baby monitor, the mother saw her son Benny, who had a glow in his right eye. The child’s right eye continued to <\/p>\n

shine brightly no matter what they did. The left eye continued to be dark and did not exhibit any unusual behavior.<\/p>\n

Benny’s mother took him to the pediatrician like any mother would, and the pediatrician recommended that Benny see an ophthalmologist. Benny did, in fact, <\/p>\n

have retinoblastoma, the doctor concluded. Benny’s journey to recovery has started following nearly a year of cancer treatment.<\/p>\n

\u2018Benny is doing great,\u2019 stated Dr. Eric Hansen. \u2018His chemotherapy is now over. We have continued to provide consolidation and local therapy, <\/p>\n

in his case using laser therapy for small incidence areas, which is typical of children with retinoblastoma gene mutations. However, he’s doing fairly well.<\/p>\n

In the video, Dr. Hansen said that Benny’s mother’s cancer detection technique was novel to him.<\/p>\n

The doctor stated, \u2018For me, this is the first time that retinoblastoma has been caught in this manner.\u2019<\/p>\n

And it’s definitely encouraging or somewhat comforting to know that these baby monitors are not only shielding children <\/p>\n

from all the other concerns and worries that parents have, but they may also help detect rare pediatric cancers like this one earlier.<\/p>\n
