<\/p>\nParents frequently go to great lengths to protect their children in spite of the repercussions, especially <\/p>\n
when it seems like their lives are in jeopardy. Logan Cook, a brave parent, treated his kid Liam in this manner. <\/p>\n
A GoFundMe fundraising website states that the mother, Molly Cook, gave birth to a son, Liam, in March 2023. <\/p>\n
At first, they believed everything was fine because the small child appeared to be in good health.<\/p>\n

Molly stated, \u2018He came out seven pounds, seven ounces, screaming,\u2019 in a September 2023 interview with News11. <\/p>\n
However, he was taken to the NICU mere hours later. \u2018We noticed his body temp started going down <\/p>\n
and they were like, ‘just to be extra careful, we’re going to take him to the NICU,’\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n
The infant, sadly, had a \u2018extremely elevated ammonia level,\u2019 and in order to preserve his life, <\/p>\n
he was taken to the Children’s of Alabama hospital, which was two hours away from his parents’ house.<\/p>\n
Liam received therapy for his rare genetic condition, ornithine transcarbamylase (OTC) deficiency, including dialysis and intubation.<\/p>\n
According to the page’s description, “OTC deficiency is a rare genetic disorder characterized by the lack of the enzyme responsible for breaking down nitrogen in the body.”<\/p>\n
The infant can only be treated with a liver transplant, thus even though the procedure was dangerous, it had to be carried out.<\/p>\n
Liam described in the interview why their small bundle of joy was so content, saying: He seems like a content little man to me. For the most part, he is happy.\u2019<\/p>\n

Based on the results of the tests conducted during the first interview, Liam and Molly were unable to donate their livers to baby Liam. However, months later, <\/p>\n
in November 2023, it was found that the little child had grown to the point where he was a match for his father.<\/p>\n
After many hours of surgery, Liam and his father returned to Pittsburgh, and the procedure was a huge success. <\/p>\n
The family had to stay in the hospital for the following few months, thus the argument was not resolved.<\/p>\n
Due to their need to care for their infant, both parents were unable to work. They created a GoFundMe <\/p>\n
campaign, and as of December 2023, they had raised over $74,943 from 574 donors\u2014more than half of their $100,000 target.<\/p>\n
Since many of the donors were moved by the family’s narrative, some of them expressed their support on the page’s comment section.<\/p>\n
\u2018Liam and I had our baby on the same day. We hope Liam receives the best care possible and that you both have <\/p>\n
some much-needed respite from financial obligations and worry so you may concentrate on what matters most,\u2019 one person commented. <\/p>\n
\u2018At 21 weeks, my son Liam passed away. Another said, \u2018I’m donating this in his honor and sending you my best wishes for keeping your little Liam alive.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018I’m hoping that a contribution may make Logan’s parents feel less stressed. I will be praying for all of them. God bless you,\u2019 someone said.<\/p>\n
