Almost 60 years after she initially began her academic journey, an English grandmother has at last received her degree from university.<\/p>\n

She ended the chase after finding out she was expecting her first child with her partner, whom she <\/p>\n

had met at the same college. At the time, she was one of six women enrolled in the animal sciences program.<\/p>\n

Angela Davidson returned to school sixty years after she had left, and in December 2023 she earned a Bachelor of Science (honors) in Animal Sciences.<\/p>\n

Upon entering the platform, an academic representative informed the audience that \u2018of the approximately 200 veterinary students in our class today, approximately 80% are female.\u2019<\/p>\n

They went on, \u2018and one of those students, Angela Davidson, still waits for her degree\u2014and today she will get it.” In 1960, that number was just six.<\/p>\n

\u2018It was the most amazing morning. Her words, \u2018I’ve been waiting for this for years,\u2019 \u2018Today, it is acknowledged that the early 1960s were a very different time for women\u2014I felt such a warm atmosphere.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018My daughter, who I was expecting when I left the course, was here with me today to see me finally pick up my degree. I’ve waited many years for this.\u2019<\/p>\n
