Less than two years later, on February 5, 2024, Buckingham Palace announced that Charles had been diagnosed with cancer, devastating the royal family once more.<\/p>\n

Charles defied tradition multiple times by going to school rather than receiving private tutoring, which was customary for the royal family at that time. <\/p>\n

The solace would, however, be fleeting as terrible news was revealed by Buckingham Palace the following day.<\/p>\n
It stated that \u2018 diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer” during Charles’ prostate treatment, emphasizing that it was not prostate cancer. <\/p>\n
The monarch had \u2018commenced a schedule of regular treatments,\u2019 according to the statement, and his doctors had advised delaying his public engagements. The 75-year-old monarch would, <\/p>\n
meanwhile, \u2018continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual,\u2019 the statement continued.<\/p>\n
Though the palace said that Charles was “wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible,\u2019<\/p>\n
rumors had already started to circulate about who may take the throne in the event that Charles was unable to perform his duties. <\/p>\n
It was widely reported that, should his health permit him to do so, Charles may select delegates from a pool of seven royals.<\/p>\n

to assume His Majesty’s place in the event that the king is unable to perform his official duties as sovereign on \u2018a temporary basis due to illness or absence abroad.\u2019<\/p>\n
For Charles, this would entail his brother Prince Andrew, his niece Princess Beatrice, his wife Queen Camilla, and his sons Prince William and Prince Harry. Nevertheless, <\/p>\n
