<\/p>\nMost of us look forward to retiring and having the opportunity to relax after working our entire lives. <\/p>\n
But there’s also a twinge of sadness for those who adore their careers. When Captain Ronald Smith of United Airlines took off for his final flight in 2017, it had to have been the case.<\/p>\n
As he traveled from Chicago to Brussels, Captain Smith gave his final flight instruction in the cockpit, capping off a 32-year career. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Although this final flight was always going to be special, a group of young travelers turned it into an experience he will never forget.<\/p>\n
They belonged to the Lyc\u00e9e des Gar\u00e7ons d’Esch-sur-Alzette school in Luxembourg, which has a choir. <\/p>\n
As news of Captain Smith’s retirement circulated throughout the aircraft, the choir determined that this day needed to be celebrated. They devised a scheme.<\/p>\n
The students waited for Captain Smith to emerge from the cockpit and for everyone else to exit the aircraft once it landed. He did, and then they began to sing. <\/p>\n
One of the pupils, Nicolas, taped their lovely Acappella rendition to the Coldplay song Viva La Vida. <\/p>\n
One of the most amazing things you will ever hear is the sound of their voices filling the airplane cabin.<\/p>\n

Ronald was clearly happy and told the students how much the song meant to him once it finished, saying, \u2018Wow. <\/p>\n
