<\/p>\nFollowing the Golden Globes last month, the costars of \u2018Only Murders in the Building\u2019 gave rise to romance speculations. <\/p>\n
However, a representative for Short has now told PEOPLE that they are \u2018very good friends, nothing more.\u2019<\/p>\n
Meryl Streep and Martin Short went out to supper together almost a month after dismissing reports of a romance.<\/p>\n
Costars from The Only Murders in the Building were seen on Wednesday evening leaving Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, California, after dinner with pals. <\/p>\n
For the evening, Short,73, wore a gray sweater and a black blazer, while Streep,74, wore black jeans, a hot pink button down, and a red jacket.<\/p>\n

Fans thought that the Hollywood stars were close during the January Golden Globes, which sparked rumors. <\/p>\n
However, a representative for Short told PEOPLE at the time that the two \u2018are just very good friends, nothing more.\u2019<\/p>\n
Short mirrored Bill Maher’s joke on his Club Random podcast around the same time, saying, \u2018We’re not a couple, we are just very close friends.\u2019<\/p>\n
Then 68-year-old Maher said, \u2018Well, you should because a power couple is the most powerful thing in Hollywood.\u2019 Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie found success with it, as did Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.\u2019<\/p>\n

Actress Nancy Dolman and Short were wed from 1980 until her death in 2010 from ovarian cancer. Together,Katherine Elizabeth (40), Oliver Patrick (37), and Henry Hayter (34), are the couple’s children.<\/p>\n
In 2019, he said, “Our marriage was a triumph, so it’s tough.\u2019 to AARP: The Magazine. \u2018She passed away in 2010, <\/p>\n
but we still keep in constant contact. You know, it’s like, \u2018Hey Nan.\u2019 What would be her response to this or that choice, particularly one that involved our three children.\u2019<\/p>\n
He said, \u2018I think that when people pass away, they zoom into the people who loved them.\u2019 \u2018The idea that it just ends, and don’t speak of them \u2014 that’s wrong\u2026.to me, she’s still here.\u2019<\/p>\n
