In 2009, Brenda Rivera intended only to encourage her friend by quoting the Lord, who advised her to <\/p>\n
\u2018do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.\u2019 Instead, she ended up encouraging a complete stranger by the name of Isiah Stearns.<\/p>\n
\u2018Amen to that, who is this?\u2019 was Isiah’s reply. Brenda immediately acknowledged that she was using the incorrect number and apologized. It was not how Isiah viewed it, though.<\/p>\n

He told TODAY that he saw someone attempting to support him in his spiritual journey and made the decision to not let the incident go unnoticed.<\/p>\n
Brenda was \u2018a little creeped out\u2019 when he contacted her the next day, but she still hoped the stranger would leave a message, which he did, saying the Bible scripture truly made his day.<\/p>\n
\u2018His sincerity was evident to me. Brenda added, \u2018So I thought, ‘Okay, I’m going to give him a call back.’\u2019<\/p>\n
She also mentioned that she found out he was only 50 minutes away from her parents and sister in Ohio. \u2018I mentioned that we might get together when I went to see my relatives. We clicked right away.<\/p>\n
Thus started a brief online affair between Brenda and a type of man she never imagined she would be with: a bare-chested, non-dancing white guy.<\/p>\n
However, love has strange ways, and Isiah consented sportingly when Brenda offered to arrange for an interview with her mother and Isiah.<\/p>\n

After lunch, her mother gave the suitor an 11 out of 10, saying her daughter she would \u2018marry this guy.\u2019<\/p>\n
After 13 years of marriage, Isiah and Brenda Stearns have six children today: Victoria, 11, Veronica, 10, Samuel, 9, Vanessa, 7, Benjamin, 4, and Ezra, 1. <\/p>\n
In the meantime, Isiah gave up the skinhead appearance in favor of a thick salt and pepper hairstyle.<\/p>\n
