<\/p>\nMel Gibson praised his longtime friend and \u2018Air America\u2019 star Robert Downey Jr. in an interview with Esquire magazine.<\/p>\n
Gibson called Downey \u2018brave, generous and kind,\u2019 as the latter called on Hollywood to forgive Gibson after his infamous 2006 arrest.<\/p>\n

\u2018Once I got into a bad situation that ended my career,\u2019 Gibson told Esquire.
\nWe have always had this pendulum. <\/p>\n
I was practically non-existent in Hollywood at the time, and he protected me. I love him for it.\u2019<\/p>\n
Gibson is referring to the 2011 American Cinematheque Awards. Downey was the recipient of the annual arts award, where he used his speech to support Gibson.<\/p>\n
Downey noted, \u2018if you haven’t sinned, you’ve made the wrong choice and you should consider giving Gibson a second chance.\u2019<\/p>\n
