Even though Sampras was regarded as one of the greatest players in history, he had previously distanced himself from the spotlight. <\/p>\n
However, he briefly returned to the public glare due to recent events, most notably his revelation three months ago of his wife Bridgette’s battle with ovarian cancer.<\/p>\n

said the usually reserved Sampras in an unusual public statement to the ATP Tour. For Sampras, who is renowned for his extraordinary degree of prudence, this was a noteworthy move.<\/p>\n
When Sampras attempted to maintain his privacy by appearing at a Starbucks in Beverly Hills, many were surprised. <\/p>\n
He was carrying iced coffees and was dressed casually, only sometimes nodding to people observing him.<\/p>\n
