The couple welcomed Michael, their first son, in Los Angeles on March 21, 2006. The boy’s name pays homage to his grandfather and father.<\/p>\n
Before his son was born, Wahlberg said, \u2018My dad called me Mike since I was a kid.\u2019 \u2018I think we’re going to name him Michael in honor of my dad.\u2019<\/p>\n
Michael has always demonstrated a love of sports, once taking up boxing. Wahlberg erected a boxing ring in his backyard in order to prepare for his <\/p>\n
role as Micky Ward in the 2010 movie The Fighter. Even his 4-year-old kid developed an obsession with the ring at that point.<\/p>\n
