A Massachusetts man who was diagnosed with cancer some months ago is currently searching for a new residence for his best friend. <\/p>\n

David Fine of Plainville, Massachusetts, told WJAR, a local NBC affiliate station, that he had owned his dog Babs for over a decade. <\/p>\n

Fine adopted her as a puppy after she had been placed twice, and he has been her “dad” ever since. <\/p>\n

As his own, he reared her. I made a promise to myself when I was younger that I would never get another pet since I can’t bear to be separated from them. <\/p>\n

Fine told the publication that, \u2018fortunately, she is going to outlive me this time.\u2019 Having worked as a carpenter for the most of his life, <\/p>\n

Fine planned to fulfill a \u2018lifelong dream\u2019 of his and tour the nation to visit national parks when he reached retirement age in 2020. <\/p>\n

\u2018I planned for thirty years or more,\u2019 was said by Fine. I was going to buy a car and a camper, and I was going to visit all the national parks. <\/p>\n

2020 is the year I pull the trigger. I went to the event with Babs in tow, and I couldn’t help but smile slyly the entire week.<\/p>\n

Fine started his trek in South Dakota and stopped at the Mount Rushmore Monument before landing in Wyoming. <\/p>\n

He told the publication that he became sick when he was about a hundred miles from Yellowstone. \u2018I started to feel awful, and my illness made it impossible for me to drive.<\/p>\n

\u2018I was not comfortable behind the wheel,” as Fine stated. WBDJ claims that after receiving treatment for leukemia many years prior, he was given a vascular disease diagnosis a year later. <\/p>\n

Fine was given a six-month prognosis in August after receiving a diagnosis of stage four lung cancer. <\/p>\n

Fine claims that he decided against receiving the \u2018brutal\u2019 treatment for the illness. They \u2018wouldn’t give me much time,<\/p>\n

and I’d be sick all the time,\u2019 he told the source. \u2018I place greater value on quality than quantity,\u2019 he declared. <\/p>\n

I don’t mind the circumstance at all. I chose to acknowledge it as true. You have to accept things as they are. <\/p>\n

It is possible for me to attempt to prolong things, but the chemotherapy would make me so ill that by the time I got well from one treatment, it would be time for the next one, and that is not a way to live. <\/p>\n

Fine claims that he is currently searching for a new home for Babs prior to his being placed in hospice care. <\/p>\n

Fine revealed to WJAR that he is childless and has never been married. Babs’s extended family cannot accommodate her since she insists on living in a pet-free home.<\/p>\n

In an attempt to locate a new home for his dog, he has so far put an ad in a local newspaper and asked for help from members of the public. <\/p>\n

Babs wants a home free of little children and other pets because that is something Fine will need in the future. <\/p>\n

Babs is a model citizen; she is well-mannered and housebroken. Fine is not giving up on finding a new home for Babs before he dies, <\/p>\n

even if he doesn’t think he will be able to visit Yellowstone until later in life. Everyone dies, and there were some things I had wanted to accomplish. <\/p>\n

I would still like to go to Yellowstone. “I don’t think I’ll be able to make it there at this point; financially, <\/p>\n

it would be difficult, other than the fact that I need to do this for her,\u2019 he reportedly stated in an interview with WJAR. \u2018I’m not ready to go yet, but when the time comes, I can rest in peace.\u2019<\/p>\n

She is the most important thing that has ever happened at this moment. Her destiny is not predetermined, but mine is.<\/p>\n

\u2018I have an obligation to make sure she has as many happy years as possible for the remainder of her life,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
