Thanks to a cochlear implant, a guy in Los Angeles experienced intense emotions after hearing voices clearly for the first time. <\/p>\n

Aric Hoffmann suffered meningitis at the age of six months, which left him with hearing loss from the time he was a boy. <\/p>\n

The 28-year-old was previously limited to lipreading and sign language as a means of communication. His hearing grew worse with age, necessitating a cochlear implant. <\/p>\n

Before I had my implant, I found that interacting with people was the hardest since I occasionally had trouble understanding what other people were saying. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m now so excited to hear people talking so clearly, without asking to repeat and be able to keep the conversations going. <\/p>\n

“I had never heard the sounds so clearly, and I was overwhelmed, crying, and very happy to hear them.” <\/p>\n

I sensed that a deeply emotional chapter in my life had started. His audiologist asked him how he was feeling, <\/p>\n

and you can see the tears welling up in his eyes in the video below. “I attempted to articulate my feelings through words, but they refused to flow.”<\/p>\n

Aric had a plan to visit Disneyland, one of his favorite locations, right after receiving his implant on May 31st.<\/p>\n

“I was astounded to hear tropical noises and mechanical birds in my implants as the Walt Disney Tiki Room show began. <\/p>\n

The entire concert was enjoyable to listen to, and it opened my eyes to what I had been missing. Aric is still getting used to all the new noises he can hear, <\/p>\n

particularly in his job as an assistant at a movie theater where he is exposed to a lot of background noise during conversations.<\/p>\n
