Kevin Ford, a worker for HMS Host who has spent the last 27 years at the Burger King in the McCarren International Airport in Las Vegas, hasn’t.

When Ford decided to publish a shoutout video expressing his deep gratitude to a Burger King coworker who gave him an employee appreciation present in honor of his milestone 27th year with the firm, his tale recently went viral.

Ford can be seen in the video showing off the goods he received in the transparent drawstring backpack that functioned as his goodie bag.

A bag of Reese’s Pieces, two rolls of Life Savers, a few pens, a lanyard, a few keychains, a movie ticket, and a re-usable Starbucks cup were among its items.

However, despite Ford’s sincere desire to show his appreciation through the film, viewers were appalled by the meager compensation he received for 27 years of faithful service.

The modest Burger King employee said that he was very grateful to receive anything, but he never anticipated such a response. But he does acknowledge that earlier times were very different.

‘I’m joyful no matter what. I appreciate anything I receive. I’ve gone through a lot, trust me. I’m satisfied with what I got, so,’ Ford said before going on. ‘However, they’ve kind of lost contact with their workforce, like most huge organizations,’

According to Ford, HSM Host has discontinued a number of its long-running employee recognition initiatives after COVID, including one that gave devoted employees bonus checks for reaching important milestones like 20 or 30 years of service.

The 54-year-old first assumed that was what was in the envelope with the movie ticket, but his expectations were immediately dashed.

However, he acknowledges that rather than feeling sorry for himself, he was actually more upset for his coworkers who had been there even longer than he had and had received nothing, not even a gift bag.

The unexpected meeting with his family, whom he hadn’t seen in a while, brought Ford to tears. He was so appreciative of what everyone had done for him that he couldn’t contain it. ‘This is simply unbelievable. Thank you, thank you all, he added, still feeling a little emotional.

‘I just want to say thank you to everyone out there for anything. Even just the idea of watching the video and finding something to smile about…

Just a little note of gratitude to everyone. It’s only a dream realized. It’s just a love whirlwind. You need love every day, so spread it around.’
