An elderly couple’s heartbreakingly beautiful love story came to an end when they passed away within an hour and a half of one another. Tom Ledbetter and Delma Ledbetter were wed for more than 60 years.
However, they became unwell in April 2017. The inhabitants of Lake Jackson, Texas were sent to the same nursing home by their family, where they remained until their passing on April 21 while holding hands.
Within an hour and a half, his wife followed Tom in passing away. ‘They were a couple made in heaven, and their love served as a testament to many.’

Donetta Nichols, the couple’s daughter, indicated that her parents’ passing occurred just as they would have preferred.
‘They were going exactly where they wanted to. Nothing could have gone better,’ She spoke with KPRC 2 in her hometown.

In the 1950s, Delma and Tom Ledbetter were living in Florida when they first connected through friends.
After their first date, which was the result of a chance encounter, it only took them three weeks to realize that they were meant to be together.
They got married and spent 62 years of blissful marriage with their two daughters, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Delma then became ill in April 2017 and needed to be moved to a nursing facility. Only a few days later, Tom too became ill.
On their final day together, Delma was dozing off while facing her husband, who reached out and clasped her hand.
When they finally passed away, they did so while still holding each other and showing each other their love. At Restwood Memorial Park in Texas, they were interred next to one another.
