A gifted pianist performed a magnificent tribute to the Queen at a key London train station.
To the delight of onlookers, renowned organist Anna Lapwood stopped at London Bridge station near The Shard, where she decided to play music for the monarch, who died ‘peacefully’ on Thursday evening at her Balmoral Castle, aged 96.
After the surprise performance, she tweeted a video to her 31k followers, writing, ‘This was very moving.’
‘Stayed at the London Bridge station organ to perform a few of pieces for the Queen.’
This charming security officer, Marcella, asked whether I could play Lascia ch’io pianga, and I said yes.’ She used to be a singer, it turns out!
‘And, certainly, at the end, she had received the crowd and praise she deserved!! We ended up playing a lot of duets, which was a lot of fun.’
