Every day, the police respond to a wide range of crises, some of which may have a profound impact on the lives of the people on either end of the line.
Frank, a 101-year-old man, was engaged in the dessert he had just brought back from the grocery at the dinner table because it was so delicious.
He didn’t have anyone with him, but he still wanted to celebrate his birthday.
But all of a sudden, loneliness seized him.
Since all of his pals had recently passed away, he didn’t want to trouble any of his busy neighbors by inviting them around.
He was about to fire the birthday cake when he saw his phone sitting there, so he made the quick decision to call 9 1 1.
He identified himself and said that he was 101 years old when the emergency dispatcher inquired about the nature of his issue.
You see, I don’t want to be alone today even though I am. Come celebrate my birthday with me, please.
But I had no one else in mind to contact,” he said to the operator.
’I realize there isn’t a real emergency. He received a call from a young woman who introduced herself as Officer Woods and informed him that she and another coworker would be visiting him shortly.
On his 101st birthday, Frank worried that he was running out of time and didn’t want to be alone on what might be his last significant birthday. He kept an eye out to see if any police actually showed up at his house.
