We’ve all heard of people who live in tiny homes or off the grid. But have you ever thought about living in a train carriage?

This woman from New Zealand’s Central Otago Region discovered these historic railway carriages and decided to fix them herself.

As we go about her humble home, we can tell that it was built with love and devotion.Mandy used to work on boat and yacht restoration projects with her ex-husband.

When she discovered these old carriages and recognized enormous potential in them, she had no idea that her knowledge would come in help.

She had planned to buy a beachfront property, but these carriages tracked her down and she never looked back.

She claimed that fixing antique carriages was a challenging task.It was initially fully saturated. She even discovered dead birds inside!

The windows were damaged, and it seemed hopeless at first, but Mandy believed she could breathe new life into this once bustling railway carriage.

The location offers an incredible panoramic view.

The wonderful view will always greet you when you stroll onto your accommodation’s deck, day or night.

Mandy has a small bathtub outside her house, but she warns that she must be cautious because water is rare in the area.

Her residence is totally self-sufficient.

Because she does not have access to water or electricity, she gathers rainwater and stores it for later use.Her home is also powered by solar panels that are linked to a dependable generator.

Heating is also not a problem because she has a fantastic fireplace that heats the entire apartment.

Mandy’s primary house is located on the first carriage.Her wonderful sitting room will meet you as soon as you go in.

Her kitchen is to the right, which she confesses she rarely uses but spends equal time maintaining.

On the left, there is an en suite bathroom and a lovely bedroom.

The toilet will be removed, but don’t worry because she has a separate long-drop toilet located outside her home. Her bedroom does not disappoint. It appears to be comfortable and warm, and look at that window!

The other carriage has greater space for tourists.

She didn’t want them thoroughly refurbished, cleaned, and polished. She remembered the seat numbers, prior marks,

and even the water streaks on the wood. These little imperfections, it turns out, fit in beautifully with the overall elegance of the room.
