Strangers hear of Great Grandma’s struggles raising her six grandchildren and show up to miraculously transform her life…

The fact that many of us are struggling is something we don’t want other people to know about. However, we are lucky in that we have wonderful friends who are constantly watching out for us.

An elderly woman found herself in difficult financial circumstances, and her closest friend was there to provide a helping hand and begin the campaign to bring this woman a miracle at Christmas season. She is responsible for the raising of six children on her own.

Ella Setzler is a 72-year-old widow who has taken in all six of her great-grandchildren as part of her family. Despite the fact that it may appear overwhelming, she feels that it is all rewarding in the end. ‘They mean so much to me, they’re my heart, and I had to save them,’ she said.

Behind the scenes, though, this dedicated great-grandmother was having a difficult time coping. It’s more difficult than it seems

She was going through a lot of financial difficulties at the time. As a military widow, she didn’t make much money on her own, and caring for six children on top of her own living costs was just too much for her to bear on her own.
Additionally, she had a water leak in her house that would cost her $900 to repair, on top of her monthly rent, vehicle, utilities, and daycare expenses.

Quite simply, she lacks the financial resources to keep up with everything.
Thankfully, she had one excellent friend who was keeping an eye on her. Her friend Alice saw that she needed help. However, Alice was unable to make things right for Ella. ‘She’s in pain, and I’m in pain because I can’t do anything to help her.’ she said.

But, even though Alice couldn’t afford to cover all of Ella’s expenses, she knew where to turn for help.
She reached out to the FOX5 Surprise Squad, which is a nonprofit that takes nominations for people of the community who are in need of help. The members of the Surprise Squad arrived.
She broke into tears as soon as she realized what was going on around her. When Ms. Alice appeared, the two closest friends embraced each other in a big hug.

The nonprofit Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada and the plumbing company Aqua Plumbing came to her rescue and fixed her water problems for free. Ms. Ella was moved to tears just by the act of compassion shown to her.

As soon as she received all of the fantastic news about how her home would be repaired, a limousine arrived and took her and Ms. Alice away for a day at the spa.

The surprises didn’t stop coming. T he whole Surprise Squad team arrived and completely transformed Ms. Ella’s home for the holiday season. They redecorated the house with new furnishings after giving it a thorough cleaning.
They even went so far as to set up a tree. The Squad placed Christmas gifts for all of Ms. Ella’s grandchildren under the new Christmas tree that they had bought for the family. They also handed each child a $500 gift card.
