This is the heartbreaking moment a deaf father saw his daughter for the first time in her wedding gown.
Rachel Saby, 24, shared a beautiful sign language encounter with her father, Mark Abercrombie, 60, on her wedding day.
Rachel, a stay-at-home parent from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, stated, ‘I largely felt joy and appreciation.’
In the video, Mark turns around for the first time to see Rachel in her wedding gown and exclaims, ‘Wow.’

The two strike into a sign language dialogue, with Rachel thanking Mark for everything he’s done and him expressing her how valuable she is to him.
‘I knew he’d cry because my father is such a softie when it comes to these things!’Rachel’s parents are both deaf, thus she and her siblings grew raised using sign language.
‘I grew up learning American Sign Language (ASL) alongside English,’Rachel explained.‘We call ourselves CODAs, which stands for Children of Deaf Adults.’
Rachel described conversing in sign language as a unique experience.‘It’s definitely unique,’ she said.

‘When we communicate, we’re in our own little world; just ask my husband at family dinners; he’s still learning ASL.’
Rachel expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share the event with those who saw her video online.
‘What many who commented saw was a lovely moment that they would never get to experience with their own fathers – some because their fathers are no longer living, and many because their fathers’ relationships are not in a healthy place,’ she said.
‘I connected so profoundly with them, and as I mentioned in a few comments, I could never have envisioned having similar moments with my father just a few years ago.’ We weren’t even close.
