Many people sympathized with the 72-year-old woman when a video of her tripping on a porch while delivering pizzas went viral.
They banded together to provide support, and the elderly woman’s life was ultimately changed by their deeds of compassion.
Senior citizen Barbara Gillespie was delivering pizzas for Domino’s Pizza in South Carolina when the incident took place.
To get to the homes of her clients, she was accustomed to riding about and navigating the streets.
Lacey Klein placed an order for her family’s dinner that day, not realizing that an unexpected incident would soon take place at her door.

The Delivery Lady
The restaurant immediately prepared Klein’s order after receiving it, and Gillespie agreed to deliver it to the family’s door.
Gillespie, like many senior citizens, worked not because she enjoyed it but rather because she had to earn money to support herself.
Gillespie, who spent years serving lunch at schools, was unable to take advantage of her retirement like many other ladies her age.
Instead, despite the physical constraints of the job, she was forced to deliver pizzas to make ends meet.
Despite the difficulties that came with her age, Gillespie never voiced complaints and consistently carried out her duties at work.
She worked as hard as her younger coworkers did, despite having less energy.

The delivery of pizza
On that fateful day, she struggled under the weight of a stack of food boxes on her right arm and a bag she was clutching in her left as
Gillespie drew closer to Klein’s front door. Every move the elderly woman took was captured by the house’s security camera.
When Gillespie put her left foot in front of her right foot and noticed there was a step, she continued moving toward the entrance.
She couldn’t see the ground since the food boxes blocked her line of sight, so she had to rely on her calculations.
She first stepped onto the step with her left foot and then her right, but she was unable to keep her balance and fell to the ground.

An Unexpected Event
Gillespie tripped on the stair and fell to her right side while the food boxes flew to the other side.
She repeatedly tried to stop herself from falling by clinging onto the chairs on the front porch, but to no avail, as evidenced by the fall’s capture on camera.
The older woman’s primary concern was not her own safety after perhaps being struck by the armrest of the chair,
but rather the prospect of having interfered with Klein’s request, since her attention was still on guaranteeing her client’s satisfaction.
Shortly after, Klein’s husband Kevin Keighron left his home and was shocked to see the elderly delivery lady lying on the ground.
He inquired about her health and asked if she was okay. She replied:
‘I spoiled your meal. I fell.’

They felt unwell
Although Klein and Keighron were shocked to learn that the pizza delivery woman was still employed at the age of 72, Gillespie voiced fear at the incident. Klein responded as follows:
‘It breaks my heart to see an elderly person working when they ought to be retired and enjoying their lives,’ said the speaker.
Because her father and father-in-law had both worked before their deaths, Klein could relate to the elderly
delivery lady and could sense Gillespie’s distress, which prompted her to act and provide relief.

The Recorded Video
The GoFundMe campaign Klein started on February 2, 2023, to give Gillespie a break from her job, was successful.
Prior to that, Klein posted security camera footage to TikTok in an effort to stir sympathy for the elderly delivery woman who had slipped and hurt herself.
She had no idea that her charitable efforts would make a big difference.
The TikTok video quickly went viral, and many people kindly donated to the crowdfunding effort as a result.
Klein currently has $248,992 after receiving over 15,400 donations, and the sum is still rising.
Gillespie was unaware of these occurrences until the next day, when Klein’s family members showed up at her workplace.
Gillespie was shocked by their surprise visit and the bouquet they gave her. When told about the GoFundMe campaign, she responded:
I’m about to pass out.

She was leaving.
‘Guys!!! Barbara gave her employer her two-week notice yesterday! She has formally retired! I’m very happy for her.’

Gillespie will be able to spend her days at home with her family and grandchildren, including Klein’s children,
who now call her their grandma and adore her, once she retires. Our best wishes go out to the elderly woman and we hope she has a happy life.
