When Kateri Schwandt and Jay Schwandt, who would later become her husband, started dating when they were in high school, their relationship grew.

They finally got married in 1993 and started their exciting life together.

The couple from West Michigan had been working hard in school, and they had already had three children while they were still in school.

They were not at all ready for the number of children to grow so much.

Kateri and Jay have been happy parents for 30 years.
Their kids are named Tyler, Zach, Drew, Brandon, Tommy, Vinny, Calvan, Gabe, Wesley, Charlie, Luke, Tucker, Francisco, and Finley.

They tried their best to take care of their 14 sons, but it wasn’t always easy. The mother Kateri had almost given up hope of ever having a girl because she had spent most of her adult life in homes where there were only boys.

In an interview she gave to a news organization in 2014, Kateri said the following:

I think that if we had a girl, it would surprise both of us.

Still, it wasn’t until their sixteenth try, six years later, that they were finally successful. Tyler, one of their kids, told this story:

When my parents found out they were going to have a little girl, they were so happy.

Tyler said that even though it had been a few hours since they found out they were going to have a sister, he was still having trouble taking it all in.

He didn’t remember seeing anything pink in their house, and he didn’t think his parents had thought about the girls’ names.

She was the best thing they could have gotten as a gift.

The two of them came up with the cute name on their own. The name Maggie Jayne was chosen for the new baby girl.

Maggie came from Kateri’s given name, Margaret, and Jayne was a play on her father’s name. She was also known by the name Jayne.

When their sweet little angel was born, the happy couple could hardly hold back their excitement.

In a heartfelt letter posted on the Internet, the proud father talked about how he felt:

“We are so happy and excited that Maggie Jayne has chosen to join our family.

Maggie is without a question the best gift we could have asked for, but this year has also been great in so many other ways and for so many other reasons.
