Lena was only a young teen when she got pregnant, and she was forced to give up her child for adoption.
But after 82 years, she could finally look her daughter in the eyes and see the beauty that had always been there.
Betty Morrell, her real mother, was someone she never got to meet. Before it happened, she thought it would be hard for her to see her mother when she was 82.
When Betty’s adoptive parents died in 1954, she started looking for her real mother. Betty grew up in Florida in a place called Spring Hill.
She was so eager to meet her that she spent a lot of time looking for different ways to find her and talk to her.

She put in a huge amount of work. She even hired private detectives to find out more about where her real mother was.
Morrell told the magazine PEOPLE, “I called adoption agencies, hired private investigators, and wrote letters to anyone who might have been able to help me.”
Still, I believe in fate, so I think it was meant for us to meet at the right time.
In fact, Betty’s meeting with her real mother was planned ahead of time.
After trying many different things for years without success, Betty was finally able to make real progress and find out who her birth mother was. She set up a time for them to meet almost right away.
Since she was born, Betty had never been able to look into the eyes of Lena Pierce, her real mother, who is now 96 years old.
When Betty was born in 1933, Lena was living in Utica, New York. She was only 13 years old at the time. She was a state child, and the woman who gave birth to her gave her the name Betty Eva May.

Lena was able to spend a total of six months with Betty before the state decided to give the child to her new parents.
Betty was raised as an only child by her foster parents, and she had no idea that her parents were not actually her birth parents.
She remembers a neighborhood child coming up to her and asking, “You know you were adopted, right?” «I didn’t understand what that meant, so I asked my mom about it. She told me that they had made an exception for me, which made sense.
I was so happy with my own family that I didn’t even think about giving up my child until I was well into my thirties.
Betty was curious in her family background, so she looked into finding out more about her biological parents.
She started by going back to the New York adoption agency that handled her case. From there, she tried a number of different things to find out more.
She was finally able to get both a letter from her mother with some personal information and a copy of her birth certificate.
After that, she didn’t get very far because she couldn’t get any of the information she needed to find Lena because her adoption records were all sealed. Because of this, she didn’t make much progress after that.
When my niece Kimberly signed me up for the genealogy site Ancestry.com, she told me, “I had kind of given up.” After that, my friend and I set out together on this trip.

Betty was sure that her family gathering would never happen, but thanks to her persistence, it did happen.
They were apart for a few years before they could finally get back together. Betty had a hard time accepting the truth of what was going on.
She cried and hugged me as she said, “It’s been so long since we’ve seen each other.”
Betty and Lena met for the first time at the Binghamton Airport in New York. Betty’s granddaughter, Kimberly Miccio, talked about how happy her grandmother was that the family reunion was finally happening.
Kimberly said, “I spent the summers with my grandmother, and she often told me stories about her amazing journey to find her mother.”
When she did her study online, I took her to different sites about family history.

Kimberly kept looking for Lena online, and when Lena’s family finally called, she didn’t pause to answer the phone and talk to them.
Betty met her real mother for the first time when she was 82 years old. It was strange for both of them.
Lena was there with her two children when her old friends got together. After what seems like forever, Betty is happy to see her mother and sisters again. She couldn’t believe that she had four!
There’s no doubt that this meeting will be one of a kind in a person’s life. Simply put, it shows that people who wait are paid in the end with great things.
Even though Lena died suddenly a few months after they got back together, I think we can all agree that she was glad to see her first daughter one last time.
