Chris Pratt’s family was not wealthy. His mother, Kathy, worked in a food store, and his father, Dan, was a builder.

Kathy always made sure her kids knew she loved them. The actor’s friendship with Dan was not easy, but now he can look back and be thankful for what Dan taught him.

When Pratt was 23, he bought a house for his mother. As a “well-paid” actor, it was his first big buy. Before he became an actor, he didn’t have a gift like this, and he knows that things were hard for his family in the past.

He got what he wanted

Chris was born in 1979 in the US state of Minnesota, but he grew up in the state of Washington. He dropped out of college to sell freebies as part of a plan called “multi-level marketing.”

When he learned that sales weren’t his future, he moved to Maui, Hawaii, to become an artist, which was his dream. Chris wrote about that time in his life in a blog post:

“I worked hard and didn’t eat. I had to find a way to pay for gas and eat sardines. I didn’t have a plan B.”

He had nowhere to live, so he and a friend set up a tent on the beach. He was far away from his family and the love and safety they gave him. The most important thing was to stay alive, but his big dream gave him hope. He thought that one day he would get there.

Chris likes to remember that hard time in his life, even though it was hard. He loved his job as a waiter at Bubba Gumps Shrimp Co. when he was younger. He would talk to people, sing “Happy Birthday,” and play knowledge games with them.

One day, Rae Dawn Chong, an actor and director, saw him and gave him his first part in the movie “Cursed Part 3.” After that, he appeared on TV shows like “Everwood,” where he played Bright Abbot, and “The OC,” where he played Ché.

He also tried making films. He had small roles in movies like “Moneyball” and “Jenifer’s Body.” Chris Pratt was always on the go and ready to make the most of every opportunity.

Chris’s “Parks and Recreation” audition for the part of Andy Dwyer went well because he brought his usual energy and lack of fear to the role. Mike Shur, one of the creators, told LADbible when he thought back to that audition:

“We need to rethink this because this guy is the funniest person we’ve ever met. We’re not going to let him go.”

Pratt talked the show’s producers into making the guest appearance a regular thing. Then he became known as a funny character and a fan favorite.

People in the movie world finally took notice of Chris. Hollywood came to his door when they heard he was a rising star.

In 2014, Pratt’s life changed a lot. In two movies, he played the main role. In “The Lego Movie,” he played Emmet Brickowski, and in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” he played Peter Quill/Star-Lord.

Since then, he has become known as a leading actor, starring in big blockbusters and showing that he can do everything from comedy to drama to thrillers to science fiction.

The most money he made was from “Jurassic World,” the fourth movie in the “Jurassic Park” series. The remake of “The Magnificent Seven” with Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke was another big moment in his career.

A place to live for his mom.

At age 23, Pratt bought his mother a house with the money from his first well-paid job. He felt like he was breaking a loop that started when they were kids and had to deal with hard things.

“We never questioned whether we were loved or not. Never. You made us feel safe. You gave us grit. You kept us on the right path. Chris told his mother on Instagram, “You cut our hair and made us food.”

The actor’s social media posts show how important Kathy is to him. He likes her because she is kind, doesn’t judge other people, and has a good attitude about life.

The star from “Parks and Recreation” says that he also learned how to act from his mother. Her kids knew they could count on her to make even the most boring job into a show.

But the “Jurassic World” star had a hard time getting along with his father. He says that his builder father worked hard, was sure of himself, and was “old-fashioned.”

Chris was in his 20s when his father was told he had multiple sclerosis. The way Dan felt about himself was hurt. He was smart and skilled enough to deal with any problem, but that wasn’t enough to beat the cancer.

Dan finally gave up, and because of that, he and Pratt’s mother were no longer together. He passed away in 2014.

Chris liked how Dan showed in his own way that he was proud of him when Chris talked about his dad. He thought he could talk to his father through his work because his father watched everything on TV.

Chris Pratt now has three children, which makes him very happy. With his first wife, Anna Faris, he has a 10-year-old son called Jack.

With his second wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, he has Lyla, 2, and Eloise, 8 months.
