Texas resident Mary Summers, 92, had the unfortunate experience of picking up a nail in one of her tires. She went to Integrity Tires in Richmond,
Texas to get the tire fixed, where she received even worse news. The punctured tire couldn’t be fixed. Both it and the other three tires on her automobile need replacement.
All four tires on Mary’s car, in the opinion of the mechanic helping her, were beyond repair, rendering it unsafe to drive,
according to KHOU. Worse still, this wasn’t going to be a quick repair. Mary’s car needed new tires, which would cost her at least $600. Mary didn’t want to hear this.

Omar was the unfortunate mechanic who had to break the awful news to the old woman. The other tires were damaged,
and the tire on her car couldn’t be repaired, according to Omar. They had already been totally demolished. Of course, Mary wasn’t really pleased by this.

Mary requested that Omar only pay her the money for the tire that had picked up the nail since she knew there was no way she could buy four new tires.
Mary had no idea that a trooper from the Texas Department of Public Safety was seated behind her and had overheard the entire anxious exchange between the elderly woman and the mechanic.

The officer was aware that he could not permit Mary to leave in an unsafe vehicle that endangered not just her but also the general public.
So he made the decision that it was time for him to act independently. The trooper approached the counter and then quickly walked away. Soon after, Omar came back to speak with Mary.
Mary was shocked when the mechanic informed her that she would be receiving four new tires that day, all of which would be free of charge.
‘He stated, ‘They’re paid for and everything.’ I then questioned, ‘Who paid for it?’ And he replied,
‘The trooper who was in here,’’ she recalled. And now that he did that, I want to cry so much that I can hardly talk about it. He completed it and then departed.

Mary’s unexpected luck continued after that. It appears that the trooper’s generosity spread, as Omar Oregueda also did something good for Mary Summers.
She received a free oil change from him. Let’s all just take care of each other, Omar remarked, ‘for a stranger to take care of another stranger like that.’ That is the key issue.
The cop who performed the kind deed was located by KHOU, allowing Mary to get one final surprise. She had intended to express her gratitude to the man for his assistance,
but she was unable to do so because he paid discreetly and went right away. With the help of Texas DPS Trooper Drew Stoner,
the person who kindly paid for Mary Summers’ tires, the news station was able to make up for this one regret.

The Texas state trooper was a hero to Mary Summers, who was struggling financially and couldn’t afford new tires,
but Trooper Stoner claimed he didn’t do it for the attention. He merely wanted to be sure she would be secure. He said,
‘I’m thinking, ‘What if she goes out on the road, and a tire goes out on her, kind of falls apart on her, and she’s on the side of the road?’’
Of course, Mary would always be appreciative of the trooper’s gesture of kindness. During a tearful reunion, she said to Trooper Stoner,
‘I’m just so thankful for you. I’m so proud. To meet someone with such a great heart makes me proud. I simply adore you to death. Without a doubt, we concur.
Trooper Stoner deserves praise for his extraordinary kindness. He and other police like him are what our communities need most.
