Evelyn Uba, a woman originally from Nigeria, decided to pack up her stuff and go to the United States in order to fulfill a dream she’s had since she was 18 years old—to become a successful lawyer.

When Uba’s father passed suddenly soon after she arrived in the country, she faced serious hardship and decided to put her goals on hold for the time being.

She planned to spend the next twenty years getting married, raising a family, and attending to her domestic duties.

Uba made the decision that she would finally pursue her objective in 2005. She attended the California Southern School of Law, where she graduated with a law degree in 2011.

Despite having a full-time job and a large family, the single mother of four put a lot of effort into becoming a lawyer.

All that was necessary was for her to pass the California bar exam, which she did after sitting for the test more than ten times over the course of about ten years.

After some time, Uba made the decision to cease keeping track of how frequently she took the test.

The blood, sweat, and tears that went into the effort were going to pay off in January 2021.

After all these years, Uba would finally be able to honor her promise to her father to do so, and she would finally be able to pursue her dream of working in the legal industry.
