Tom Cruise’s unmatched popularity is undoubtedly contagious to any actor whose name is listed in a film next to his,
since he possesses the charm, talent, and a superbly chiseled face highlighted by his heart-melting smile.
It’s safe to say that Cruise is not accustomed to being rejected because he is one of Hollywood’s hottest stars.
One actor, however, whom Cruise admired enough to call, turned down the opportunity to co-star in the upcoming Mission: Impossible films with the world-traveling agent.
One of Hollywood’s most honored performers, Tom Cruise, is renowned for being tenacious, charming, and courageous.
A co-starring role in a movie with the 1980s heartthrob, who held that title throughout his 40-year acting career, is certain to boost any actor’s profile.

He’s the complete package, a producer’s fantasy, with a range of skills that enable him to play any role,
from comedy to drama to action, and he can sing, as seen by his portrayal of the conceited rocker in Rock of Ages.
Additionally, the 60-year-old actor, who is worth $600 million and undoubtedly much more to his fans, conducts his own stunts, which is Risky Business for him.
Any actor would undoubtedly leap at the chance to work with Cruise, especially in the eight-film Mission:
Impossible series, which includes the upcoming M:I Dead Reckoning Part One and Part Two, which will be released in July 2024.
Actor Nicholas Hoult, who co-stars with Nicholas Cage in the slasher comedy Renfeld, rejected Cruise’s
request to appear in these two movies, which will be released in July 2023 and July 2024, respectively.
Hoult, a darker-haired, bluer-eyed, taller and younger counterpart of Cruise, had to decline the villain role in Mission: Impossible, even though Cruise personally called him to offer the part.

I failed my screen test to be cast as Batman. I failed the Top Gun screen test, says Hoult in the Guardian. Then Tom Cruise called and said,
‘Hey, how about Mission: Impossible? ‘ OK. Got it. Then I had to withdraw because I had already committed to performing The Great again.
The Great, a satirical comedy on Hulu that is currently in its third season, stars the 33-year-old British actor.
It would have been awful for Hoult to have to turn down Tom Cruise, but he was forced to due to the action-packed Mission: Impossible’s rigorous timetable and his obligations to earlier projects.
.Esai Morales, a 60-year-old actor best known for his roles in the TV series NYPD Blue (2001–2004), the Sean Penn–starrer Bad Boys, and the 1987 film La Bamba,
found it to be a blessing in disguise. Hoult, who laments passing up the fantastic opportunity to work with Cruise, was given the role that was planned for Morales.
Co-star of Mission: Impossible and returning White Widow Vanessa Kirby, 35, says she enjoys being a part of the series.
For M:I Dead Reckoning Part One, Kirby praised Cruise for his ‘cool’ performance of a dangerous stunt, saying,
‘He performed it consecutively… and repeatedly so he could catch all the different aspects and sides of it. He was simply so composed.
He was unafraid. He simply found it thrilling. ‘That kind of faith in cinema and what one could accomplish and his passion for it is so inspiring,’ she concluded.
He sort of has this idea that he can pull off the impossible, so he does…I adore being associated with the franchise.

In order to promote the eighth Mission: Impossible movie, Cruise performed his most daring stunt to date: a base leap from a motorcycle off a sheer cliff in Norway.
The Top Gun actor declared, ‘This is by far the most hazardous thing we’ve ever attempted.’ Since I was a young child, I have desired to accomplish this. Instead of being cautious, be assured.
Before playing the wildly daring senior field agent Ethan Hunt, Cruise portrayed a senior bloodsucker in the 1994 movie adaptation of Anne Rice’s novel Interview with a Vampire.
The first installment of the Vampire Chronicles features a centuries-old vampire named Lestat (Cruise) and his young offspring, Louis, who is portrayed by the stunning newcomer Brad Pitt,
who at the time was best known for the films Thelma Louise (1991), A River Runs Through It (1992), and Legends of the Fall (1994).
Even though he loved the books, Pitt admitted that the physical darkness of the set made him ‘miserable’ while filming.
‘I (was) depressed. A f—ing six months in the dark. I could now declare, ‘This is a problem.’ If we don’t address this,
I’m out of here,’ Pitt told Entertainment Weekly. We were filming at night. I simply cruised around on my bike all night.
There, I made some wonderful pals. But as we arrived in London, it was f–king dark. Winter had passed in London.
I’m telling you, it broke me one day. Life is too short for this kind of living, it seemed to say.
Pitt finished the movie after explaining that breaking the agreement would have cost him $40 million, which the new star did not yet have.

The ‘competition’ between the two Hollywood hotties is undoubtedly a contributing factor in the other aspect of his suffering.
‘You gotta understand, Tom and I are,’ Pitt continued. We take separate routes while we stroll. North Pole is him.
I’m from the South. He’s approaching you with a handshake where I might run into you or I might not, you know? Pitt imitated Cruise’s overly pushy greeting.
In the 2019 sports drama Ford vs Ferrari, which is about the friendship and tension between vehicle designer Carroll Shelby and driver Ken Miles, the two actors came dangerously close to reuniting.
The Days of Thunder actor and Pitt were cast together in the starring parts for a reason, according to Joseph Kosinski, the director who was ultimately replaced by James Mangold.
According to Kosinski, ‘that story was one of those great stories of an incredible friendship and rivalry and an incredible dangerous race.’
Although I wouldn’t say we were close to going into production, I did get to the point where Brad Pitt and
Tom Cruise were reading the script aloud during a table read, which was really remarkable. However, we were unable to raise the budget to the required level.
With a budget of roughly $100 million, Ford vs. Ferrari, a box office success that garnered two Academy Award wins and countless nominations, was able to
cast A-list actors Christian Bale and Matt Damon. How much would it have cost to secure Cruise and Pitt, then?
